Interviews: As Heads Is Tails

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band As Heads Is Tails from Canada. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We had been searching for a band name for about a year, going back and forth
between a couple names but nothing really stuck. We were all together one night, when someone suggested looking at lyrics from a bigger band for a name. Sean suggested looking at sympathy for the devil by the Rolling Stones. At some point Cam read the line, "Just as every cop is a criminal, and all the sinners saints. As heads is tails, just call me Lucifer, 'cause I'm in need of some restraint." and everyone got excited about it, and liked the meaning behind it. We let it sink in for a bit and here we are today.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

The creativity and musicianship involved in it, the perfect balance between being technical and musical.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Cody and Sean knew each other from years before, and used to play music together quite frequently. Sean moved to France, and Cody moved to London Ontario to attend college. Cody and Cam met in college and began writing the templates for the songs released today. Cody sent Sean some early versions of the songs when Sean was still living in France. Sean decided to move back to Canada to form the band and pursue the same dream. Cody and Sean then met Chandler behind a dumpster at Burger King, and instantly knew that Chandler would be a part of this band. Chandler had grown up together with Randy, and had played in a band previously with him. Chandler suggested that Randy would fill our line up as a third guitarist. Randy agreed and moved from Hamilton to London, and here we are today. Randy's brother Tim Burak co-wrote the drums, as we have quite the extensive history with drummers, but have not found a permanent drummer as of yet.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Cody - Avenged Sevenfold

Sean - Nine Inch Nails/Metallica

Cam - The Rolling Stones

Chandler - Thrice/The Used/Tears for Fears

Randy - Dance Gavin Dance/Shadow of Intent

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We are inspired by the art itself, the evolution of music, and the progression of it growing. To be a part of the history of a genre and to move it forward to new heights, to even be a stepping stone for others to pick it up and keep it moving forward. True love for the music we create and the genre we are a part of, it gives us all purpose each and every day.

6. Where was your last gig?

We have not had out first show yet, but we are looking forward to it!

7. Where would you like to act?

Download Fest, Amnesia Rockfest, New England Metal Festival etc. Honestly we would love to play any of those big festivals and get our music out there!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

As a new band we are pretty open to working with other artists. Anyone that would complement our sound or add an extra element that may be missing.

9. Whom not?

There really isn't anyone that we wouldn't work with.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Yes of course, we all have, everyone does at one point, no matter what some people say. The best cure for stage fright honestly is to just do it. Once you're up there, and you begin playing the stage fright fades and turns into adrenaline. Each show you play after your first, it will get easier and easier. Eventually the stage will feel like home.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Cody - Avenged Sevenfold, Chelsea Grin, Rise to Remain

Sean - Metallica, Nine Inch Nails, Lamb of God

Cam - Fit For An Autopsy, The Acacia Strain, Half Moon Run

Chandler - Protest the Hero, Parkway Drive, As I Lay Dying

Randy - Wesley Willis, Shadow of Intent, Karnivool

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We don't really want to relive that.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We all love our moms and appreciate them!

14. What do you think of our site?

We think it's excellent, and we appreciate sites like these. Your site is great exposure for up and coming bands, and we also really grateful for the opportunities the site provides for bands like us. Great job guys!

15. Something add?

Thanks for the interview, we all are very thankful! We will leave you with the music video for our song 'Haunted Heavens' below to check out if you haven't seen it yet. Enjoy!
