Interviews: Edward De Rosa

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Progressive Metal/Power Metal band Edward De Rosa from Italy. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Edward is simply my second name and being my solo album it came natural to exploit it for this and for future projects.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Since I was a child I have always felt particular sensations when I listened to Queen and Guns 'n' Roses rather than other musical genres. At 13 I bought Trash by Alice Cooper and discovered Iron Maiden, my favorite band and I immediately realized that my vocation was rock and heavy metal

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

I involved trusted friends who I knew were great musicians at the same time. With Luca Basile we always thought about creating something together and he did an exceptional job on the orchestras, Francesco Caputo is an exceptional drummer and Giacomo Voli has bewitched me since the first time I saw him at The Voice Of Italy. Even the special guests I've been calling are longtime friends, Virginia Pavone is one of the best singers I've ever met and Salvatore Mr Jack is an incredible artist. I could not choose better!

4. Each band member favourite band?

I think the list would be too long. Surely we all have Queen in common!

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

In addition to music, I let myself be inspired by other art forms. I am a movie lover and I read a lot. It was natural to let me be inspired by the books I read or by facts in my life that have made some autobiographical pieces. You can see them in songs with sci-fi and dystopian components, one of my favorite literary and film genres. Although it is not a concept album, the title of my solo album Zeitgeist has a reading key that has its roots in the dystopian genre and in philosophy.

6. Where was your last gig?

It was a year ago supporting Lacuna Coil in Manduria. I was a session man in the Symphonic metal band Elegy Of Madness. Then I took a long break to work on my solo album Zeitgeist, which kept me busy for almost a year. Finally October 26, 2018 will be out!

7. Where would you like to act?

Surely in places where I have not yet been and where heavy metal has more fertile ground as in the United States and Latin America or Japan. Obviously my dream is to play at Wacken, Hellfest and all the other biggest festivals in the world. I wonder if one day I will succeed in realizing these dreams. For now I continue to do my best on what I compose in the studio.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

I dream of opening concerts to my favorite bands like Iron Maiden, Helloween and Symphony X or have in my future studio albums special guests who have been fundamental to my musical growth such as Michael Romeo, Tobias Sammet, Vinnie Moore, Michael Kiske and Andi Deris.

9. Whom not?

Someone with whom I would never feature, but I don’t want to offend anyone

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I think you've always got a bit of stage fright, but actually, over the years, I've realized that it's not the fear of the stage, but the wait for an important gig. It's the wait that causes you fear, once you're on stage the story changes!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

First of all Iron Maiden! Soon after, other bands came to write the story as Metallica, Slayer, Slipknot. Those that continue to inspire me are Symphony X, Dream Theater, Rage and as a guitarist I have suffered strong influences from Vinnie Moore, Yngwie Malmsteen, Randy Rhoads, Victor Smolski, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Tony Macalpine and Luca Turilli.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

At the moment I do not remember. I do not have such a large number of fans yet to receive strange questions hahaha

13. What do you think of your fans?

There are several people who follow me on social networks and others are friends who constantly ask me about my activities. They are all incredible, for the consistency they have in following me even with a simple photo or video posted. There are not thousands of people who follow me, but I'm super happy that those who do are sincere and appreciate what I do.

14. What do you think of our site?

Simply magnificent! Depending on the type of metal you can discover new bands, listen to them in the playlist and read interviews. Very intuitive and really useful!

15. Something add?

I thank you Breathing The Core for the space you gave me. I want to thank all the members of my band, all those who follow me, Rob and all the staff of Revalve records who will release my first solo album Zeitgeist with the great Giacomo Voli (Rhapsody Of Fire) on vocals. Stay tuned on the Edward De Rosa official facebook page and on the official Revalve records website for all updates. STAY METAL!
