Interviews: Notion To Flee

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Progressive Metal band Notion To Flee  from Guatemala. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Notion To Flee was suggested by our vocalist Joel Dickson, it was used on his previous band that got dissolved and we fell in love with it. It clearly defines what our music meaning translates into.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

All members evolved from similar background, we all love nu metal and progressive metal music making the perfect mix for a newly refreshed sound from the old roots

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Jorge is the only founding member and Joel was found over the internet, the rest of the members did know each other from casualty before; Guatemala is a very small country.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Jorge – Chevelle
Onassis – Mutemath
Carlos – Tesseract
Joel – Slipknot
Ricky – Guthrie Govan

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We are interested on many topics and influences, from perspective to conception, from nostalgic to aggressive. Who know what’s next.

6. Where was your last gig?

There hasn’t been one, Novemeber 24th 2018 at Rock Ol Vuh, Guatemala.

7. Where would you like to act?

The entire world

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Deftones, Meshuggah, After The Burial

9. Whom not?

Probably any reggaeton artist

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Not anymore, at some point as a drummer I did got a little nervous on my first gigs at high school talent show, I was thirteen. The rest of the guys are making a living out of music, so we’re all kind of used to this now.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Saosin, Slipknot, Chevelle, Veil Of Maya, Chelsea Grin, Periphery, Meshuggah, The Aristocrats, Animals As Leaders, Tesseract, Blink 182.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Haha, a French guy asked for printed pics with a poem directed to his family on it to be sent to an address through our gmail, of course we had to translate it.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We’re starting out, but we do have a great supporting crew we’re thankful for.

14. What do you think of our site?

Que hostia tio!
