Interviews: State Of Ember

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock band State Of Ember  from UK. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We decided to leave it for several months - for some reason, coming up with a band name can be the most tricky part of starting a new band! We wanted something to represent the end of our previous musical project (Khaos Theory) and to show where we are now, hence the ashes or "ember" from the fire.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We didn't choose rock; rock chose us. In all seriousness - our style is pretty much something in between what we all listen to. We never write music to purposely fit into any particular genre; we just play what naturally feels good between the three of us.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes we did. Chelsea and Chris have been playing in various bands together for the past 11 years now (woah!) and all three of us played in Khaos Theory previously, which ended in 2016. Even after 5 years of being in the last band together, we just hadn't finished with each other on a musical level!

4. Each band member favourite band?

Chris - Shinedown.
Chelsea - Porcupine Tree.
Mike - Dream Theater.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Things happen on a daily basis, which can influence feelings and thoughts going into a song. Chris' family all have a musical background and in particular, his Grandad was a fantastic accordion player who used to wow the masses!

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was at The Asylum Venue in Birmingham, supporting American band Saving Abel. It was a great show!

7. Where would you like to play?

If we're talking UK, we'd love to play Download Festival. We'd also like to go to other countries such as Germany - we've heard the scene is great there. Hopefully that's something we can go and do in the near future.

8. Who would you like to support?

We all have some personal ideas for this of course, but overall we'd absolutely love to play some shows with InMe. They're a band we're all really into!

9. Who not?

Europe. We wanna be front-centre for when 'The Final Countdown' comes on!

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Chris used to suffer from stage freight all the time and stand by his guitar amp, during our previous band. Probably the best way of dealing with that was taking up singing when State of Ember started - it left him with no choice but to overcome this anxiety a little. Our advice is to push yourself to do slightly more than you think you can, because what you thought was once difficult should then get much easier!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Chris likes hard rock and pop punk - but takes his biggest influences from Shinedown and Alter Bridge. Mike is massively into prog and tech metal, with Dream Theater and Karnivool being some of his influences. Chelsea listens to rock, punk, metal and anything in between - Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree) and Brann Dailor (Mastodon) are two of her favourite drummers!

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We've got fans? Seriously though, probably the weirdest thing so far is that we were asked to play a wedding - and our own songs, not covers!

13. What do you think of your fans?

We've got some great followers of the band who share our posts and turn up to the shows - we love them very much. Other than that, they keep us cool during the Summer.

14. What do you think of our site?

It's a very easy-to-navigate site that seems to do a great deal for unsigned bands and new music in general. Keep up your great efforts - the industry needs more like you!

15. Something to add?
