Interviews About Albums: Of Our Design - Utopia (2018)

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?
Utopia is a concept EP consisting of 7 songs that revolve around a story that sequences from each song into the next. On some level it's a personal story but it contains many overarching themes and metaphors which point toward the main idea of the concept which is to elevate yourself and your mind out of the struggles of life and towards a place where you can be whoever you want to be as an individual no matter how long the journey to get there.
2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?
Utopia is the physical representation of a meaningful life within the concept, of the place that the protagonist of the story is attempting to reach. It is a place far away with promise of wonder and peace however to reach it is a journey of suffering and sacrifice but to reach it is a moment of redemption and reflection.
3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?
The usual process is that George composes the vast majority of the instrumentation and I will be introduced to a song as an early demo. At which point I will input on arrangement and percussion and on occasion some guitar work. Once the instrumentation ends up completed I will write the lyrics and vocals to the song and it's at this point that lyrics will be written for the vocal melodies that George writes or I will write another version and we will blend it together to finish up the song. I will produce the synth sounds for the songs and once the band approves we have a finished song.
4. If you have to pick one song, which one would you pick?
Do or Die.
5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD?If there is what it is?
To be yourself, to be true to yourself and to be honest and critical of yourself.
6. Are there some lyrics that you love to share?
For all that we have suffered.
It's right before my eyes you see? I knew it would be worth it

7. Which inspirations haven been important for this album ? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thanks specially?
I found it buried deep inside of me.
I'll take the blame like a fucking disease.

This EP has been a long time in the making and honestly has too many
inspirations to list. It's in honor of many of the bands that got us into music
and means different things to different people.

8. Something to add?

As a band I know we are super excited to get this music and story out into the world and we hope that people can find something about it that resonates with them and that everyone who enjoys it can find ways to relate to eachother. We hope you love it!
