Interviews: Kaonashi

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Metalcore band Kaonashi from USA. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The band name comes from the animated movie "Spirited Away", we're named after one of the characters in the movie. We're all big anime fans!

2.Why did you want to play this genre?
We love heavy music and riffs, but also combining that with many different types of music and a wide range of emotions that create our Emo Mathcore sound. We feel the sound we have is a perfect representation of how we all feel personally on a daily basis which makes it so enjoyable to express. Some joy, some sorrow, and lots of chaos.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We all loosely knew each other before getting together from other bands/in passing. Kaonashi was actually formed by our vocalist Peter and guitarist Alex in 2012, but after lineup changes over the years Peter "scouted" Pao and I (August) from our respective bands. So we don't really consider Kaonashi starting as the band we are today until around 2016. Roger is our most recent member and I've known him for years from high school then introduced him to the rest of the guys and it all came together.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Pao - Kiss
Peter - Coheed & Cambria
August - Polyenso
Roger - Taking Back Sunday
Alex - Coheed & Cambria

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Nihilism, aggression, and pretty bad depression

6. Where was your last gig?

Norfolk, VA @ Charlie's American Cafe (shoutout to them for the amazing vegan biscuits and gravy)

7. Where would you like to act?

Think we can all agree that touring to Japan is a big band goal for us!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Claudio Sanchez from Coheed and Cambria, him and his band are big inspirations to us.

9. Whom not?

Tom DeLonge, sorry Tom :(

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Honestly we're all very used to playing on stages from years of playing in bands outside of Kaonashi. Sometimes if the crowd is bigger than average we'll get a little bit ofnerves, but we just listen to some Trash Talk and smoke a little weed and we're good to go!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Coheed & Cambria, The Contortionist, and Monuments all have their respective ways of inspiring our music and what we create.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Nothing weird so far! We talk to fans at any chance we get online and in person and every single one we've talked to has been great.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Nothing but love for the people who enjoy our music and understand what we're trying to convey. We would have nothing if it wasn't for those people, especially the ones in our home city of Philadelphia.

14. What do you think of our site?

We love the site! Super easy to navigate and lots of great bands featured.

15. Something add?

Nothing else to add! Check out Why Did You Do It? Everywhere online and come out to a show if we're ever near you!!
