Interviews: CITIZEN RAGE

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Hardcore Punk band CITIZEN RAGE from Canada. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We started as a non-serious band with a very non-serious name. After realizing that we had some valid things to say, we decided to take it seriously. We knew we would never be able to make a serious go of it under the previous name, so we changed it to reflect that.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We’re aggressive people and we’re singing about things that piss us off, and issues we face, such as mental illness and other personal issues. Between that, and the fact that we grew up listening to other aggressive bands, that’s the music we wound up making.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Most of us have known each other since well before this band through the music scene. Ross came straight outta Christchurch, New Zealand, and was a regular at a lot of local shows. We got pretty tight with him, so when we needed a second guitar player, he was a natural for the spot.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Mark – BB King
Mikey – Prince
Rosco – original line-up Sepultura

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Our friends and family

6. Where was your last gig?

Loud as Hell Metal Fest in Drumheller, AB.

7. Where would you like to act?

Broadway.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We’ve already been fortunate enough to share the stage with a lot of our favourites, like Ignite, Cro-mags and DRI. Going forward, we want to play with any and every band that wants to be a part of the music community.

9. Whom not?

We don’t discriminate when it comes to who we’ll share a bill with. The only bands we won’t play with are bands who espouse any ideals like racism, sexism, homophobia/transphobia, or any other harmful ideals. We are militantly inclusive and shit like that won’t fly with us. We won’t associate with any bands who promote any sort of hatred or discrimination towards any marginalized groups.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Apparently Mark used to puke before going onstage. He’s ok now though. He stopped treating other musicians as celebrities and realized that we’re all just humans, and we’re all there for the same reason.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Mostly local bands from around our hometown. Calgary has a lot of hard working bands.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We’re all happily married, so please don’t offer sexual favours. Especially right in front of your husband. It doesn’t happen very often, but when it does, its awkward as fuck, and is the best way to make us immediately leave.

13. What do you think of your fans?

They’re  dope. As fuck . We love them.

14. What do you think of our site?

We’re happy to be a part of it. It looks like you do a lot to support smaller bands, and we love anything that furthers the music scene.

15. Something add?
