Interviews: Cabodano

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band Cabodano from Spain. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Firstly, the band was going to be called The Guepards (It’s not a joke xD) but being a metalcore group that was going to sing in Galician language, we decided to put on a proper name and characteristic of the language, reflecting to a certain extent a theme that inspires us at the moment of perform the lyrics of the songs. This is how Cabodano was born. For people who do not know, a Cabodano is the anniversary of someone's death.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

It's a genre that we like and we find it very entertaining to play. It is not monotonous. It is a way, together with the letters, to show anger and discontent with certain issues that happen in society. In addition, many of our favorite groups play this genre.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Some members of the band, yes. Moisés, Juncal and Peri were known to have met in the same band as well as to share the rehearsal room being in different bands. Mora and Buitre are the outsiders because they joined to the band
later.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Mora – Pantera
Moisés – Iron Maiden
Peri – Pantera
Buitre – In Flames
Juncal – Iron Maiden

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Death and society itself.

When reading our lyrics you see that they have rage, social and political criticism and stories that normal people live and, as is logical, we try to make the instrumental part agree. We do not pretend to represent anyone, but surely there will be many people who feel identified with them. We do not want to fall into posture or pamphlet, we try to capture what we really feel about what surrounds us and that is what we want to transmit in our music.

In this plays a fundamental role the fact that our lyrics are in Galician. It is the language with which we have grown and with which we express ourselves in our day to day. Some say that this closes doors, surely many of these also think that the Galician only serves to speak to the cows and sing songs of bands without knowing what they are saying, or even knowing it they do not understand it.

When composing, English is more grateful, easier to fit, our main references sing in English, but it would be much more complicated when we express ourselves, and the lyrics are essential when expressing something with a song. Obviously, we respect all the bands and their way of doing things, but that is what we are most comfortable with and we are proud to say we do metal in Galician, we think ... "caralludo"!

6. Where was your last gig?

Gentalha do Pichel, in Santiago de Compostela (Galicia)

7. Where would you like to act?

Wacken Open Air

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Architects, Parkway Drive, Gojira… something like that.

9. Whom not?

Orquesta Panorama

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

At first I think we were nervous because of the fear of failure, the reaction of the public, etc ... With the passage of the concerts we believe that fear of disappearing being freer on stage and enjoying what we like.

Really if you think about it, you are doing what you like and you are playing something that only you play ... Why do you have to be nervous?

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Pantera, Machine Head, Killswitch Engage y Lamb of God.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Our fans do not have enough confidence to ask us for strange things ... we ask them to ... like for example that they bring us potato omelet to the concerts xD

13. What do you think of your fans?

We greatly appreciate all the people who support us. We know that the genre we play is not a very common style and less in our area. We suppose the normal or logical thing would be to play POP or ROCK but what we like is this and that is what we feel comfortable with and if even above people are encouraged to follow us and listen to us ... that's fucking hot!

14. What do you think of our site?

We think that this is good and interesting site to promote this kinds of core genres of an underground scene giving many bands the opportunity to show their work.

15. Something add?

Well, nothing more, just tell whoever reads this interview, invite him/her to listen to our album and send us his/her comments. It is the way to improve ;)
