Interviews: DIMLIGHT

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Death Metal band DIMLIGHT from Greece. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came  out just like that?

We are very intrigued by the philosophy of dark and the human need to search for the darkest paths of his soul. The human as a being is always in the situation of esoterically searching, which we could consider that as the twilight of people’s knowledge. "DIMLIGHT" was something that expressed  our passion and feelings.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Dimlight’s influences vary in many aspects, but when combined all together the result is clear; strong death metal riffs with rich melodies, a symphonic backbone followed by heavy atmosphere, fast and technical grooves that are all integrated with strong and sharp vocals on both sides. We decided to play this genre because we believe the combinations of our influences give great results and that It’s something really authentic that comes from our hearts.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Some of us knew each other from other bands, from participating in the same shows, or just from meetings by accident, without being friends though.

4. Each band member favorite band?

We couldn’t really say just one favorite artist for each member. We all have many and different influences. From old school rock, progressive and heavy metal to extreme experimental black but also from jazz, 90's pop to classical music. Besides, music has many different perspectives and we would not like  to draw a line on that.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Mostly lifetime experiences, our influences, our passion and imagination.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last show was in Cairo, Egypt, where we headlined the Metal Blast  Festival, along with Nightmare and Medic.

7. Where would you like to act?

There is no specific place. We all love to travel and perform in new places, meet new fans and cultures. Anywhere we can go if the circumstances are  prosperous, we will.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Moonspell, Tiamat, paradise lost, cradle of filth, dimu borgir, and many more.

9. Whom not?

In our opinion, our music is highly multifarious and we, as personalities, are not turbulent or quarrelsome people. We believe there is no metal band that we would not feature with or have a problem between our relations.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners  on how to beat that?

All artists experience stage fright in some point of their career, mostly in the beginning but sometimes even later on. This is reasonable for most occasions. What someone should do to overcome this situation is to focus on improving, and see every mistake as a learning opportunity. Therefore, being yourself and also believing in yourself and in your Art is important. Lastly, keep in mind that not always we can predict the unpredictable.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Black sabbath, Iron maiden, Celtic Frost, Satyricon, Behemoth, Cradle of filth, Paradise Lost, Killswitch Engage, Nightwish, Epica, and many  more.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Hmmm, back in 2009 in a show in Ukraine some people were asking us to give our clothes (the ones we were wearing hahah)

13. What do you think of your fans?

We highly appreciate all our fans, as they are an important factor to our entity. We believe we somehow have a moral duty to our fanbase. We always try to give the best of ourselves while not losing the authenticity of our character.

14. What do you think of our site?

It is highly functional and engaging. A very good chance for bands like  us to be heard out.

15. Something add?

Thank you very much for your time, we enjoyed this interview and we hope to talk with you again in the near future. We wish you the best for  the prosperity of your webzine!
