Interviews: Downhills
In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band Downhills from France. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
The idea came when the line up changed, we wanted something new and this name
sounded good to us, so we just kept it.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
It’s not really a desire, it’s more something coming naturally. We’re all influenced by
metalcore music in general, and it’s just the better way to express ourselves. But we don’t
“want to play this genre”, we’re creating as we want and it sounds like that, that’s all!
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Not really. Guillaume (drums) and Simon (rythm guitar) are brothers, so, obviously they knew
each other before! But, Florian (bass) came at the beginning of the project, and I joined the
project one year later. Sirem (lead guitar) was the last to joined the band!
4. Each band member favourite band?
Orianne (vocals): Spiritbox, Being As An Ocean, Architects, August Burns Red, Silent
Planet, Northlane, PVRIS
Simon (guitar): August Burns Red, Born Of Osiris
Guillaume (drums): August Burns Red
Sirem (guitar): Parkway Drive, System of a down
Florian (bass): Tool, Rage against the machine
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
I’m mostly inspired by emotions in general for the lyrics, I try to express the best as I can
certain sensations, doubts, questions. And I’m very inspired by Courtney Laplante
(Spiritbox).
6. Where was your last gig?
In Liévin, in France, with two amazing bands named Oddism and Stengah!
7. Where would you like to act?
We’d really like to play in the UK!
But the absolute dream would be to play one day in festivals as Hellfest, Metaldays, Rock
Am Ring, Download….!
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
I don’t know, so many bands! It would be a dream to open for bands as August Burns Red,
Betraying the Martyrs, Parkway Drive or Bury Tomorrow!
9. Whom not?
None.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat
that?
No, we’re not going in many big venues so we don’t really suffer from stage fright because
we don’t play in front of so many people.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
It depends on each member, we all have different influences, but I’d say August Burns Red,
Parkway Drive, While She Sleeps etc...
12. What do you think of your fans?
We don’t have so many fans ahah, but we love every person supporting us!
13. What do you think of our site?
I think it’s a really cool site because we can find so many bands with a lot of diversity.
14. Something add?
Thank you for your time!
Orianne
