Interviews: Luna Kiss

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Alternative Rock band Luna Kiss from UK. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The band name i guess reflects the mood of the style of music we wanted to write. The moon is big, mysterious and moody and well, Kisses are sexy right! who doesn’t like a kiss.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We all grew up listening to the likes of Zeppelin, floyd, AC/DC and later radiohead, muse, chilli peppers so rock was just our natural path.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We all went to college and studied music there. After finishing our course the band formed and here we are now.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Wil - Submotion Orchestra (At this moment in time)
James - Led Zeppelin
Chris - Snarky Puppy
Ross - Nils Frahm

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Chris and I are usually the ones to pen down initial ideas. From my perspective I just pick up a guitar and see what comes out. I tend to get to vocal melodies before lyrics. When it comes to forming a song the guys are waiting on me to get the lyrics down before it really starts to gel. Lyrically I’m influenced a lot by whats going on in my life and around me, its usually very subconscious and I realise what I have written about after playing it for a few months.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was in our LK HQ before Christmas. We threw a massive party for fans all across the country and put a show on for them. We had many beers!

7. Where would you like to play?

I’m one for warm temperatures so anywhere with a good 28 degree heat and a cold beer! James loves his snowboarding so without a doubt his dream would be to play snow bombing or something like that!

8. Who would you like to support?

We are all big Manchester Orchestra fans so that would be a wicked slot to play.

9. Whom not?

I’ve heard Guns & Roses are not guys to support according to James Hatfield from Metallica!

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Yeah i guess we all do from time to time. One of the best lines I ever heard I think was on a Hendrix interview and it went something like ‘They’re my songs i’ll play them how i want’. In essences whilst you are on stage then the moment is yours and the songs are yours. If you mess up then there is always tomorrow.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

We all have very broad tastes in music so its hard to say but bands like Zeppelin and Floyd for their strive to be creative. Justin Vernon again for his unique ability to be so creative but so in tune with what is catchy. Oceansize, Modarat, Nick Cave, the list is massive. These are all bands that are at the top of their game and give us the drive and courage to explore new areas and not play safe.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I don’t think we’ve had anything to weird to be honest. We’ve avoided any bunny boilers yet!

13. What do you think of your fans?

They’re all awesome. We are very amazed at times that people travel so far to see us or that we visit new places and the fans come. We had people travel all over England to show up to the Luna Kiss party in December and it was humbling and amazing.

14. What do you think of our site?

I’ve just found the Spotify playlist! It good that there is a platform for new music and up and coming band. Like everything in this modern world, all the major brands dominate and feed us the same stuff time and time again so it’s great to have discovered you and have access to fresh music without all the corporate fat.

15. Something to add?

Our album is out on April 12th so if anyone in the universe digs what we are about then
