Interviews: Allison & Moon

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Rock/Emo/Pop band Allison & Moon from USA. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Allison: I was a solo artist before this so our name is the same name I played under when I was solo. Allison & Moon is a play on the sun and the moon.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Allison: We blend power pop, pop punk, and emo music. I’m not sure if I explicitly said, “I want to play this genre,” it’s just all I know how to write based on what I listen to.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Allison: Nope! I found Mike and Courtney through Craigslist! I was really lucky.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Allison: Paramore

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Allison: Beyond my musical influences, I’m inspired to write because music is the only thing I’ve loved and has been there for me since I was a child.

6. Where was your last gig?

Allison: Our last gig was at Ralph’s Diner in Worcester.

7. Where would you like to act?

Allison: The Sinclair in Cambridge is a super important venue locally, so it would be rad to play there where I’ve seen some of my favorites. The House of Blues would be amazing as well, that’s next level!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Allison: So many people! I personally would rather work with my favorite artists than have them work with us because I feel like I’d learn so much more. If I could get in on writing a song with Daughter I feel like my mind would expand twofold.

9. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Allison: I definitely have. I think it just helps to keep playing. The more you play the easier it gets. And practice a million times! It’s easier to ignore the fear when you’ve got muscle memory in your favor.

10. What bands have inspired you the most?

Allison: My biggest influences as a writer are Paramore, Tegan and Sara, and Daughter. Lately I’ve been inspired by Stand Atlantic’s music and Phoebe Bridgers lyrics as well. I’m also a huge ABBA fan...

11. What do you think of your fans?

Allison: Most of our fans are friends and family at this point, so I love them! Haha
