Interviews: Dayavail

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Post-Hardcore band Dayavail from Italy. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The idea of the band name came from our guitarist, who merged two words with greek etymology and create a new word “Dayavail”, wich stand for the double purpose of the music, to be helpful both for the musician and the listener.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We wanted to play this genre because this was the genre that every member of this band had in common. When it comes to post-harcore, we all are on the same wave!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

The band was formed by the singer and the guitarist in 2015 and after several line-up rearrangement (the last when the second guitarist left back in 2018) now we are permanently formed by four members, so no, we came in contact when we joined the band.

4. Each band member favourite band?

We all came from different music backgrounds. The singer is mostly into metalcore/postHC, the bassist into folk rock, the drummer into metalcore alongside rap and pop punk, and the guitarist has a death metal/djent background.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Our major inspiration in writing songs is what happens in our lives, the joy, the grief that each one of us have passed through or is passing through. We hope that at least a part of what we say in our songs can reach out the listener and talk directly to his/her heart; there is nothing like finding people who have felt exactly the same as we felt and make them feel better knowing that they are not alone, they are never alone.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was in our hometown, near Rome!

7. Where would you like to act?

We would love to act in the major Italy cities like Milan, and of course in other Europe countries!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We are really focus on growing as a band, but most importantly in our contribution as musicians to the preoject, so for now we are triyng to write the best music we can without involving other people, but who knows!

9. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

None of us have ever suffered from stage fright, but I think that the “fear” of standing in front of people is what drives us to make a good performance. Without that “fear”, it will be kinda emotionless.

So, our tip to beginners is to embrace that “fear” and turn it into adrenaline, walk on that stage and just share your message with people.

10. What bands have inspired you the most?

Our most-inspiring bands are for sure The Amity Affliction, A Day To Remember, We Came As Romans and Architects.

11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Nothing weird!

12. What do you think of your fans?

We only have to thank our fans, because they support us in everything we do and without them we are nothing!

13. What do you think of our site?

Your site is really what underground music needs, people who support even the smaller bands and give them a spot to share their music!

14. Something add?

We would love to thank you so much for the opportunity to talk about us and our band, so follow us, we have more to come in 2019!
