Interviews: This Year’s Comeback

In this new occassion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Pop Punk band This Year´s Comeback from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their  FACEBOOK PAGE

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We actually went through a few names earlier on but like, for the first year or so, we’d get together, play a few songs then just end up playing video games. Eventually, it was like, “Okay, this needs to stop”, so, we did, we stopped and figured, “Okay, this year, that all changes, it’ll be This Year’s Comeback”. Which was perfect because it was also a nod to Fall Out Boy, you know, big influence.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Honestly, this was supposed to be a post-hardcore project but, when we started writing our own music, that all changed and yeah, pop-punk, again.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yeah, actually, we all went to high school together. Except for Ken, he went to high school in like, Kentucky or something.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Collectively, we all listen to a lot of bands so, I don’t think any of us really have a favorite. Maybe Ken, he may as well be a Beatle.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

The band’s got a weird way of doing things like, Brian’ll usually write out a really awful skeleton and Nick’ll flesh out the whole thing and make it not suck. The past two albums have been a connected story, just a work of fiction really, Brian’ll write lyrics off of that, makes the process a lot easier.

6. Where was your last gig?

By the time this gets out, we’ll probably have had our last show at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park.

7. Where would you like to act?

Anywhere, really! We’re just about up for anything as far as shows are concerned. 8. Whom would you like to feature with? We’ve answered a question kind of like this before, so maybe Twenty One Pilots, Powerman 5000, Blink, or somehow, old school Fall Out Boy. Either collectively, or like, all together.

9. Whom not?

Honestly, a feature of any kind would be ridiculously appreciated!

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Earlier on, definitely, I think it’s struck all of us at one point or another but like anything else, just keep getting out there and the more you do it, the more comfortable you get, you know?

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

For this project, definitely a lot of early Fall Out Boy vibes, My Chemical Romance, a lot of Taking Back Sunday, Brand New, just that early 2000s sound. Kind of aiming to hop ourselves on the next Tony Hawk soundtrack, if that ever happens again.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I think for all of us, it definitely threw us off a bit when this one fan, who we never even met before wanted a photo with us. Like, when you start gaining that kind of traction, it definitely throws you off a bit.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Love them, they’re all extremely nice, very pleasant people, so supportive, it’s really surreal and they have no idea how much we appreciate them, for real.

14. What do you think of our site?

It looks awesome, it’s just really well put together, a lot of great info on some really neat-o bands. Legit, very neat-o. Do people still say that?

15. Something add?

Our second album, “Missing Pages” is to drop March 31st! The second and last installment to the “Garden State Tragedy” tale. Going to be playing a lot of shows across New Jersey, PA, and New York as soon as that thing drops. Other than that, I think we’re good! Thank you!
