Interviews: HexHorn

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Death Metal band HexHorn from Poland. Check out the interview and follow the band on their  FACEBOOK PAGE. 

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that? 

Bene: It just sounded good for us and we thought it was easy to remember. And what’s most important, it is unique so you can easily find it on the Internet. In addition, this name was corresponding well with the idea of a mirrored logo. 

2. Why did you want to play this genre? 

Bene: Since the early 1990s we have listened to many genres of metal. From heavy, through thrash, death, black to grindcore. At first, we played melodic black metal with Polish band Mortifer (the late nineties) and then with Hegeroth. In 2015 we wanted to try something different but still within the range of our interests. This is how HexHorn was born. 

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Bene: We have played together with Maziak and Bila since Mortifrer’s times. Ed joined Hegeroth in 2012 and Miro answered our announcement two years ago. 

4. Each band member favorite band? 

Bene: Immolation

Edward: Well it is really hard for me to say which band is my favorite, that is why I will list more than one: Emperor, Dark Funeral, Naglfar, Messiah, King Diamond, Mercyful Fate, Behemoth, Kat, Arcturus, Borknagar and many, many more.

Miro: My favorite band is Death and their albums: human, leprosy. This band inspired me to play the guitar. 

Maziak: Vader with their album “Welcome to the Morbid Reich” 

Bila: Cradle of Filth “Midian”

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Ed: Well lyrics on this album were inspired by the sick paintings in my head, those are mostly just thriller stories, that's all, no philosophy was put in them. 

Bene: listening to good music is driving my process of creation, no matter if it is death, black, industrial, jazz or contemporary classical music.

6. Where was your last gig?

Bene: Our last gig was in Cracow, Poland in January 2019. It was a famous Polish charity event (WOŚP).

Ed: Yeah it was a really great gig for us. We didn't play for almost half a year coz we were preparing to record new LP and it was such a great feeling to get on the scene and catch the contact with great metal music fans 7. Where would you like to act?

Ed: In the Madison Square Garden…., For real at some big metal fest. 

Bila: Wacken and Polish SPODEK in Katowice. 

8. Whom would you like to feature with? 

Ed: of course with some great death metal bands like Deicide or Cannibal Corpse. It would be really great to share the stage with George Fisher aka ‘Corpsegrinder’

9. Whom not? 

Ed: Hard to say, probably with some rap stars ..I really don't like this kind of music…. To tell the truth I hate it.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that? 

Ed: I don’t know any tips, for me the most important thing is to stand firm on the stage. Also when I see that people are having a good time all of my frights go away. 

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Az: Slayer, Unleashed, Darkthrone, Edge Of Sanity

Bila: Judas Priest, Dimmu Borgir, Ozzy Osbourne

Miro: Death, Immortal, Slayer

Maziak: Slayer, Arch Enemy, Cannibal Corpse, Vader 

Ed: Emperor, Naglfar, Mercyful Fate

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Maziak: After a gig in Olkusz, Poland a girl came to the guitarist and asked him if she put guitar cable in her nose would she be electrocuted because she had a bet with her friend... 

13. What do you think of your fans? 

Bene: When you are in the process of creation, your own evaluation of effects can be distorted. Every comment (positive or negative) brings us some fresh views on our songs. It is very interesting how such external view may be different from our own perception. Fans’ Feedback is very important, it drives us to make new songs.

14. What do you think of our site?

Bene: Great idea, great site. New bands need help with promoting their music. Breathing the core’s Spotify playlist seems to be great support for them. Database of bands (according to countries) and promoters is superb!
