Interviews: SKIVER

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Hard Rock band SKIVER from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their  FACEBOOK PAGE

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Felix: I always wanted a band name that was short and would be instantly recognizable. It kind of just came to me one day.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Felix: It's diverse. You can play whatever you feel like playing however you feel like playing it. In this genre; we do what we want.

Josh: Cause of big energy. Our shows are always really fun, we usually have people jumping and dancing and everything and a big part of that is us enjoying it ourselves.

Lock: We're influenced by Japanese Rock and there aren't a lot of bands in the US doing that sound. Hopefully, our upcoming releases will show more of that side of our influences

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Lock: I met Felix when he came to see my high school band.

Josh: Lock and I have been best friends for like 12 years. I met Felix a few years back at a show I was playing with another band, and I met Joel and Brian when I joined Skiver.

Felix: It's pretty much the internet's fault that we all know each other

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Felix: It's hard to pick an absolute favorite, everybody knows my deep love for L'arc~en~ciel though

Lock: Kannivalism

BK: Avenged Sevenfold and 2010-era Escape The Fate

Joel: Sum 41! I love how they started out as a pop punk band, but began incorporating metal, hard rock, and melodic hardcore influences into their music. Their body of work always amazes me.

Josh: Make Them Suffer or Kero Kero Bonito

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Felix: Inspiration is everywhere. In things you see, life events, stories, anything can be used for the basis of a great song

Lock: I come up with songwriting idea by just walking around the city

Josh: Cool stories, paintings, or feelings. I usually try to have the instrumentals convey something substantial before the lyrics are even involved. 6. Where was your last gig?

Felix: Our last gig was a sold-out show at Arlene's Grocery in NYC with a band called Sex Slaves. Much love to those guys!

7. Where would you like to act?

Felix: I want us to go everywhere. After we start hitting U.S tours a bit harder, I'd love to head out to the U.K and Japan

Lock: Japan.

BK: Everywhere

Josh: Japan pls 8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Felix: I have so many talented musician friends, I'd love for any of them to feature on a song of ours. On a larger scale, I think musicians like HYDE and Ken Lloyd would sound great on our tracks.

Lock: Oblivion Dust, on a bigger scale us opening on a HIM reunion tour, would be amazing.

Josh: Luna Sea, The Gazette, One Ok Rock.

BK: Monte Money, Buckethead, Cazqui, Synyster Gates, Mick Mars.

Joel: I’d have to go with Bring Me The Horizon. I think we could create something special with them if the opportunity ever becomes available

9. Whom not?

Joel: Don’t have anyone I wouldn’t want to collab with. I want to have an open mind for collaborations.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Felix: I usually get a little nervous before I hit the stage, but that all goes away once I get out there. As long as you have fun, your crowd will too.

Lock: I used to get terrible stage fright, it's definitely contagious if you notice your bandmates getting it, for me, I just take a shot and give it my all no matter what. Also what helps me is not over analyzing the show and just going in there to have a good time and nothing else.

Josh: I used to, and then I realized people want to have a good time. No one's watching for your mistakes, they only want you to do well, so just have fun with it

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Felix: Any bands I see that have a crazy work ethic always inspire me to work harder to achieve my goals for SKIVER.

Josh: Make Them Suffer, Kero Kero Bonito, Deafheaven, and Luna Sea.

BK: Nocturnal Bloodlust.

Joel: Oh man, there are so many bands. For me, the top ones are Sum 41, The Maine, The 1975, Asking Alexandria, Bring Me The Horizon, Thrice, My Chemical Romance, and so many more. Wouldn’t be the musician I am today without their music.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

BK: To be their boyfriend.

Lock: A strand of my hair lmao

Felix: At some point, all the weirdness starts to blend together.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Felix: We love our fans so much. Anybody that takes the time to listen to and enjoy our music is like family to us.

Josh: They are really sweet and genuine. Big appreciation of energy.

Lock: They're awesome it's great to even have fans.

14. What do you think of our site?

Joel: Badass! I appreciate what you guys are doing for bands and music. Thank you.

Josh: It's a good platform for the boys
