Interviews: SURVIVE

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the  Metal band SURVIVE from Japan. Check out the interview and follow the band on their  FACEBOOK PAGE

1. Why did you decide to name the band with such title? What kind of ideas do you explore?

To SURVIVE the coming era!

2. Tell us more about your coming album Immortal Warriors?

“Immortal Warriors” is also the title of our song. We shot the music video for that. It describes NEMO’s (Vo/Gt) illness, his fall, and recovery from that. The Album is kind of hybrid. Very aggressive but also has a lot of melodic parts in it.

3. Where do you take all the inspiration from?

We get a lot of inspirations from our daily life, of course. I think we got a huge influence from the Europian tour.

4. In your opinion, what is the best way to define SURVIVE’s sound?

In one word, METAL. But not “just” a metal, I guess!

5. So, are you on hiatus now, just relaxed and looking for album feedbacks, or did you started to compose new stuff immediately?

We’ve slowed down a bit and now charging some energy. First time in our 20 years career. I think this kind of time is also necessary for the band.

6. What are your main musical influences? How huge is their influence in your sound?

There are countless bands that inspired us since the time when we were still young. Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden… can't tell all of them here. Not only heavy bands but we also have influence from a different genre. It’s still stuck in our head.

7. Is there some well-known musician in particular that you would like to use in one of your upcoming albums?

We’d love to play with musicians who influenced us. Someone who’s still working hard! For example, we have done the show with bands like Kreator, Overkill, Behemoth, Anthrax, Napalm Death before.

8. What is your personal strategy for making your music heard by a larger audience?

To get more attention from foreign metalheads, the internet is important. But I think it’s more important to go out of Japan and tour many countries. Step by step, one by one.

9. Do you have any other hobby beside music?

All of our members have many hobbies. But in the end, music is probably our biggest hobby hahaha.

10. Are you all supported by your relatives towards your devotion to music?

We are surrounded by great family and friends. We are very happy about that.

11. How’s the metal scene in Japan right now? Is it easy to play gigs, to buy records, etc there these days?

There are many venues and it’s kind of easy to get albums. But I think the whole scene lacks the heat. There are too many sub-genres and we don’t have big festivals so much. One of SURVIVE’s aim is to change that situation. That’s why we will continue playing!

Thank you for answering my questions, see ya on the road!
