Interviews: Edge Of Destiny

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Hard Rock/Alternative Metal band Edge Of Destiny from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Kraevin: We were all brainstorming ideas for the band name and I suggested Edge of Destiny loosely inspired by characters in my favorite video game haha. As a band, we picked our top three favorite name ideas and then set up a poll and let our fans vote. Edge of Destiny was what our fans chose.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Kraevin: I play, listen to, and write many diverse musical genres. Hard rock/metal has always been the music I gravitate to. For me, there is just so much more room for passion and expression. You can push the envelope a little bit and incorporate tastes from other genres. When performing, you can stand solemn and reflectively, dance, jump around, mosh… whatever the music makes you feel. I listen to a lot of different music but most of my favorite songs are all metal because those are the ones that really got me. Reached me in a way that none of the others did. So, I play/sing it because maybe I can help someone the way those songs helped me.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Kraevin: Astrum, Stan and I knew each other from another project, so when we decided to start another project, it was “destined” that we do it together. We put an ad out for a guitar player and Gus was one of the guitar players who responded and it’s been the four of us ever since.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Kraevin: I can’t pick just one! Breaking Benjamin, Sixx Am, Sevendust, Skillet, Queen

Astrum: Breaking Benjamin, Shinedown, and Halestorm would be my favs at the moment.

Gustavo: Dream Theater, Riverside, Symphony X, Soen, Katatonia, Edge of Destiny

Stan: Nothgard, Parasite Inc, Equilibrium, Rotting Christ, Deserted Fear, Valtari, Death, Neaera, Mors Principium Est, Harms Way, Varg, Ex Deo, Bifrost, Obscurity, Heaven Shall Burn, just to name a few lol 5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Kraevin: Life, nature, music. Songwriting is part of who I am. I can be doing the most mundane task like dishes and zone out and a song will start writing itself in my head. Other times, I will just be having one of those days and I sit at the piano and just write about it. One time I had a song stuck in my head and I wrote a song about how I couldn’t get this song out of my head! 6. Where was your last gig?

Kraevin: Dirty Dog Bar, Austin, Texas!

7. Where would you like to perform?

Kraevin: Everywhere! Wacken Music Festival in Germany and Madison Square Garden

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

Kraevin: Breaking Benjamin, Sixx Am, Sevendust, Skillet, Chevelle, In this Moment

9. Whom not?

Kraevin: Can’t think of any.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Kraevin: I used to have terrible stage fright. I could play piano in front of anyone, no problem. But singing I just couldn’t do, unless it was with a choir. I never really thought on my own I was good enough. In college, I had the pleasure of being able to work with one of my favorite vocalists growing up, Patrick Andrew of PFR. He happened to hear me sing one day and forced me up on stage with him. He told me he wouldn’t sing so if I didn’t sing, we’d both be on stage looking like idiots. I told him I was fine with that because there was no way I was singing. He kept his word. He played his guitar and kept playing until I finally did it. I was shaking and terrified and angry with him. But the smile on his face at that moment. He was so happy and so proud. Afterwards, he said I was amazing and he knew I could do it. I have never had stage fright since. Sure I get nervous now and then. But each time I get on stage, it gets easier. If he believed in me, then why can’t I believe in myself. My tips for beginners would be to just get up and do it! Believe in yourself. Don’t let your fear hold you back. If I had, I would have missed out on some of the happiest times and friendships of my life. It is okay and normal to be afraid, but don’t let it control you. Accept it, own it, and overcome it.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Kraevin: Breaking Benjamin, Motley Crue, Queen, No Doubt, Pillar

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Kraevin: If I would be willing to wear a key to his chastity cage on a necklace around my neck… Obviously, I said no.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Kraevin: They are our reason for existing. They are our lifeblood. They are the ones who enable us to write, create, and perform our music. Without them, we would be nothing. I love meeting them, talking to them, and hearing their stories. So many different people, but music brings us all together.

14. What do you think of our site?

Kraevin: I love your site. The design is eye-catching and the interviews are great. I like how you support up and coming artists like us. I enjoy not just listening to music but getting to know the bands, reading about them. So your site is great for that.

15. Something to add?

Kraevin: Thank you for taking the time to interview us and helping us and artists like us share our music with your readers. You, like our fans, help us do what we love. And to those who are reading this, if you haven’t, follow us on social media and send us a message! We would love to hear from you.
