Interviews: SUE

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock/Punk Rock band SUE from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The name comes from the Johnny Cash song ‘A Boy Named Sue’. The Man in Black was the first artist to get me interested in songwriting, so I had to pay my respects somehow.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

When I started the project I had got a taste of noise rock/punk rock/grunge/post-punk/garage rock etc and I wanted to see what I could do in that realm of music. Plus I was bored and emotionally unstable.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

No, I started looking for people to join the band and over the years found Ashley (guitar), Euan (drums) and finally Harry(Bass). We all get along though, great bunch of lads.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Mine (Elliot) would be Whores at the moment, their first album Gold blows me away each time I hear it. Ashleys is the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Euans is Viagra Boys and Harrys is MCR.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I’ve spent the past couple of years reading existential philosophy; Satre, Nietzsche, Camus, Cioran. I find that sort of stuff really interesting. Anything sad really, I’m not interested in writing happy music.

6. Where was your last gig?

The Marrs Bar in Worcester wasn’t really our scene but we put on one hell of a show. I got knocked over into my amp by the bassist, little bastard.

7. Where would you like to perform?

Wherever we can really, I’m not bothered about certain venues. As long as people enjoy the music I don’t care where we play.

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

Metz, Pissed Jeans, Whores, Iceage, Idles, Shame. Those are a few.

9. Whom not?

Cardi B.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I use whiskey to help with my nerves, but I’ve heard beer works pretty well too.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

When I first discovered the 80’s Hardcore scene in the USA I was blown away. The aggression of Black Flag, Minor Threat, The Germs, etc was awesome; it looked like they couldn’t give a single fuck about anything. I could relate to that.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

A pint and a blowjob.

13. What do you think of your fans?

The best people, we really appreciate their support. Love em all.

14. What do you think of our site?

Very cool, great to see all the cores getting some attention.

15. Something to add?

We put out our debut album, ‘It Will Never End’, on the 1st May. Find it on every streaming platform!
