Interviews: AvaGrace

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Post-Hardcore band AvaGrace from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

It was so long ago now we honestly can’t remember, I think we collectively decided an actual name would be cool and for a while top of the list was AvaRose until we realized Ava Rose was a famous porn star, so we thought that might cause some awkward situations if people ever tried to search for us online so in the end went for AvaGace, which we thought had a nice ring to it!

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

It has a similar vibe to things we listened to as teenagers with a fresh approach, it’s music that makes us feel alive!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Craig and Ben went to the same school and basically grew up in the same scene and played in same bands, Chris was a known face on the local music scene being in a popular local band at the time, Will knew the guys through mutual friends also from the same school although a little younger and the guys were made aware of Ashlee via a good friend of the band.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Chris: Saosin

Ben: Issues

Craig: AC/DC

Will: Cream

Ashlee: Underoath

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Always real-life situations lyrically, Usually moments of spontaneity when coming up with riffs or musical ideas, when it happens and flows naturally the songs usually write themselves.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was supporting Dead Girls Academy (US) at Crauford Arms Milton Keynes, great venue!

7. Where would you like to play?

So many places we’d like to play, a pinnacle for bands like us are getting to play Brixton Academy, so hopefully, one day sooner rather than later it will be within our sites but we’d love to be part of more festivals for 2020.

8. Who would you like to support?

We would love to support a band like Underoath or Saosin, they’re big heroes of ours but so many bands we’d love to play with.

9. Who not?

Don’t think we're in a position to answer that one lol

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

The stage is where we feel most comfortable and if you get stage fright your in the wrong game buddy but for beginners I’d say just make sure all your equipment is working properly before the show, make sure everyone has a way of getting there on time and it helps to have a written setlist, those are things that tend to cause most pre-show anxiety but it’s also a good thing because it gets the adrenaline pumping!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Mainly a lot of bands we grew up listening too from various genres, spectrums too broad to list specifics (pop punk, alternative, emo, post-hardcore, metal, etc)

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We still find it weird when people come up and ask for photos after the show, we always think maybe they’re thinking we are someone else but maybe we should give ourselves more credit.

13. What do you think of your fans?

They have a good taste in music, and we appreciate the support more than they know.

14. What do you think of our site?

Great place for our community of like-minded music fans and thanks for giving bands like us the opportunity to talk about our music!

15. Something to add?

Our debut album is being released August 30th and lead single ‘The Witching Hours’ is out now!
