Interviews: Dreams In Fragments

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Symphonic Metal band Dreams In Fragments from Switzerland. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Chris: Besides that, a name should reflect a bands sound I am always looking for something unique that does not already have many other meanings. Like that it is also easy to find online and is easier to remember. That said we did brainstorming collected ideas and we chose this one because we thought it both matched our idea of our music and sounded nice.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Chris: When I joined 2 Songs were already in a good way. They drew a rough picture of the style. It slightly changed since then or let’s say the sound was enhanced since then.

Seraina: I always wanted a band which can combine my classical voice with harder metal music. When I joined the band, I liked this combination very much.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Chris: I joined because bass player Jan asked me to. He was the only one I knew then. The band had been there under a different name for a while, but since it was mostly incomplete, not so much happened until then.

Seraina: I found the call for a new singer for the band online and came to introduce myself. Didn’t know the guys before.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Chris: If only one I’d say Nightwish, but it is a close call!

Seraina: Evanescence and maybe 100 others.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Chris: I write songs more often because I heard another song on the radio or on Spotify and it gives me an idea. But that doesn't mean that they sound similar in the end. There's just some element in the song that grabs me.

Seraina: I always loved to write stories and poems. The combination with my passion for music is just the logical step – so I began to write song lyrics.

6. Where was your last gig?

Chris: We were on eastern Europe tour as support of our friends Forge in June. The last gig of the tour was in Czech Hodonin at the Nautilus Club.

7. Where would you like to act?

Chris: We do not have that one location where we wanna hit the stage. Sure, there are a few bigger stages me might conquer later on like Z7 in Pratteln or Halle 622 or even Greenfield Open Air to name a few local ones, but for now, we just like to play no matter where.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Chris: Of course, we would like to be on stage with our role models from Nightwish, Delain or Beyond the Black.

9. Whom not?

Chris: Certainly not with anyone who makes racist or otherwise incorrect statements.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Chris: If you start giving concerts it would be almost strange if you didn't have some stage fright. I guess there's only one thing: Climbing on stage, again and again, then it passes with time and you start to enjoy it to the fullest!

Seraina: I suffered from stage fright very much in the beginning. I still do, but the more we play live the more it heals me 😊 But it’s always only until I start to sing. From the first note, I sing it’s just joy and adrenaline.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Chris: I started my metal journey with Dimmu Borgir in 1997 when “Enthrone Darkness Triumphant” came out. Soon after Cradle of Filth’s album “Cruelty and the beast” hit me too. My likings soon spread to more gothic styles of music. I think The Birthday Massacre has certainly left a lasting impression. I liked Nightwish since “Angels Fall First”. they certainly influenced me a lot until Tarja left the band. I was also inclined to learn to appreciate comparable bands like Delain. But I was also very attracted to melodic death metal like In Flames and Dark Tranquility.

Seraina: I think we all have different influences and sources of inspiration. For me, they are especially bands like Nightwish, Evanescence, Delain or Amaranthe.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Chris: I cannot recall anything that I’d say was weird.

Seraina: Me neither. But let’s see what comes in the future…

13. What do you think of your fans?

Chris: They may (still) be few, but they are very loyal!

14. What do you think of our site?

Chris: Unfortunately, I didn’t know it before but it is worth a visit for sure. There’s even some free music to listen to, cool!

15. Something add?

Thanks for the interest in our band!
