Interviews: Shawn Perry

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock artist Shawn Perry from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Shawn Perry: My mama gave it to me

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Shawn Perry: well the main reason is that it's fun I am mainly a country act but being a "solo" act... I have a lot more freedom to blur the lines between genres than I would if we were a band so that's really the main reason is that I like to throw people for a loop and drop in tidbits from other styles and what I'm doing.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Shawn Perry: Yeah the whole band except for whoever happens to be playing drums for us are former students of mine Cory and I have actually been playing together since 2010 and Kevin since probably about 2014

4. Each band member favorite band?

Shawn Perry: ...I think that would probably very day today depending on when you ask them we all like classic rock specifically 70s and 80s stuff,...But to keep things concise I will say my favorite band is Queen, I'm going to say Cory's right now is blink-182, man Kevin's favorite band ....maybe Black Sabbath or Skynyrd... Marie would probably be Alice Cooper, Guns n Roses for Motley Crue... And Grayson I don't know I'm not entirely sure who Grayson's favorite band is I think Grayson is more a fan of particular drummers or their styles than he is of bands but I think his favorite drummer is probably Lester Estelle who played for Pillar, Kelly Clarkson, and Neil McCoy.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Shawn Perry: Freddie Mercury and unicorns... The Ghostbusters, in particular, Bill Murray, and white Lamborghinis... Also leprechauns.

6. Where was your last gig?

Shawn Perry: Progressive insurance/Harley-Davidson Ohio Bike week ....main stage.

7. Where would you like to act?

Shawn Perry: Star Wars... I might get a million acting gigs but I will never be happy until I'm plunging a lightsaber into some chest... I didn't do all this martial arts training my whole life to not be a Jedi.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Shawn Perry: Right now I'm working on a collaboration with Snoop Dogg hopefully we can make that fly but also really love to work with pink lzzy Hale or Brian May.

9. Whom not?

Shawn Perry: ...I think my only hard pass would be ICP or something along those lines.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Shawn Perry: I don't know I've kind of had lead singer disease since I was like three so that's never really been an issue it's kind of been more like how do I keep myself from grabbing the mic every time I go and watch a cover band play... And as to what advice I would give somebody I have students who occasionally have that and I have a group of more advanced students to go out and play shows like a band and that's a really good way for them to get over it once they've done a few rehearsals with kids our own age their kind of over it..and the stage is not an issue.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Shawn Perry: Queen, Van Halen, Guns-N-Roses, Hank Williams Jr, Willie Nelson, Ronnie Milsap, Dolly Parton, New kids on the block, Naughty by Nature, Heart, Prince.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Shawn Perry: ...IDK man I get asked to and for a lot of weird stuff, I'm not even sure where to start with this... I have definitely been asked to sign several inappropriate body parts...so that's fun.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Shawn Perry: I think my fans are awesome I think everybody's fans are awesome I think anyone that goes out and supports a band....you need something that I personally don't particularly care for I think it's a great people or other supported music.

14. What do you think of our site?

Shawn Perry: I think what y'all do for an artist is awesome your site has a great format I really appreciate what you guys do for indie artists.
