Interviews: True The Gray

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band True The Gray from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

True The Gray is a reference to staying true to yourself, we believe that it’s okay to live within your own gray area rather than conform to the standards of others or “colors” of the world.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Both Pete and I (Scotty) have always had an affinity for the metal genre. We both hit hard in the new metal era of early Korn, Slipknot and other bands alike. We believe in the message that gets sent through the genre, that this music was made for creatives and outcasts like ourselves to find worth and community in one another.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We were in a previous band together called Me Against Sunrise. We met when I (Scotty) tried out to be the vocalist in mid to late 2009.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Scotty: Wage War
Pete: Polaris

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We find a lot of inspiration in everyday experiences, bands that we both enjoy and the general feeling that we still get when we write together after all these years.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last show together was in 2010 at The Marquis, but we hope to be playing new shows very soon!

7. Where would you like to act?

I think it would be amazing to play The Fillmore or one of the bigger venues like it.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Honestly, we could feature for anyone and we would be happy!

9. Whom not?

I don’t think there’s anyone, in particular, we wouldn’t work with. Everyone has something to offer!

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Stage fright itself is what gives me the courage to go up there. Reminds me that I’m alive! For anyone who suffers from stage fright, however, I’d say to just remember there’s a reason you’re about to go onstage. If you have the talent and drive to play shows there’s no reason to be afraid to share that with people! Just have fun and give em hell.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

For me (Scotty) I would have to say that Slipknot is very high up there as my inspiration. It’s amazing to see the talent and longevity they’ve been able to accomplish and yet still be just as relevant now as they were twenty years ago.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Nothing too weird comes to mind, the few good fans we have are awesome people!

13. What do you think of your fans?

Anyone who wants support what we do or exchange conversation with us in my mind are truly amazing people. We’re in no way a huge band so we are constantly overwhelmed and excited about any praise or response we get.

14. What do you think of our site?

Breathing the Core is a great site and we really appreciate you guys offering this interview and the mentions you’ve given us on social media! It means a lot to us!

15. Something add?

Thank you to anyone who listens and supports us! We have no intentions of slowing down and are only getting better and better! New EP Bledstone is out now on Bandcamp, and within the next few days will be out on all streaming platforms! Peace and love to all!
