Interviews: DEBONE

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the  Metalcore/Electronic band  DEBONE from Spain. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We are pretty bad at naming stuff. The songs, the album title, the band’s name… We’ve changed names like a million times until we finally settled for Debone. The meaning behind Debone is simple. We believe that in order to make something great you need to dive deep. Our band’s name represents that idea in a metaphorical way. You have to get inside you mind and soul, deboning yourself and getting to the core to make music in the most truthful and unique way.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We think of ourselves as a genre-less band, kind of. We create freely. We don’t want to limit ourselves to only metal or rap or pop, etc. We want to mix it all into one thing. The core of our music is metal, I guess. But there’s a lot of things on top of that. We feel that if we listen to literally every style of music, why should we stick to playing only one? Our first single ‘Visions’ is a good example of that. It starts of as an electronic song, but later in the song there’s a pretty heavy breakdown played with 7-string guitars. And the whole structure and melodies are pretty poppy. So yeah, it’s a good mixture of genres.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We are currently three in the band. Me (Anaid) and Joe, our bass player, have known each other for years. We are high school friends and created the band together along with other friends. We met Chris in a gig. Our drummer at the time couldn’t make it so a friend told us about Chris. We instantly had a connection, so we just continued the band with him.

4. Each band member favorite band?

This is a tough one… That constantly changes, but right now the bands or artists we like the most are:

Chris - Breaking Benjamin

Joe - Enter Shikari

Anaid - I’m between Architects and Billie Eilish (LoL)

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We always write music before lyrics, so we never make songs thinking about something in specific. The process of writing a song is really organic and it gets influenced by the state of mind we are in. The lyrics are always the last step and they are always influenced by the music.

6. Where was your last gig?

This month we’ve been playing shows every Saturday. Every gig has been amazing! We love to play live.

7. Where would you like to act?

Oh man, all around the world. Literally anywhere.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We would love to open for a lot of bands. But from the top of our heads, our favorites would be Bring Me The Horizon, Enter Shikari, Pendulum, Breaking Benjamin, The Prodigy, Ghostemane, Muse, etc. And the list goes on!

9. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Our frontman Anaid would get extremely nervous before every single show. And the cure is basically giving 0 f*cks, remembering that you are on the stage because it’s what you love the most in the world and yeah, a beer or two.

10. What bands have inspired you the most?

We all have pretty different tastes in music so there’s a lot of influential bands. But the ones that have really inspired us a lot are Linkin Park, Enter Shikari and Bring Me The Horizon. These bands are very good examples of not caring about what other bands are doing and just making your thing. They have always experimented and created their own unique style and that’s something we love.

11. What do you think of your fans?

They are the best. There’s the ones that have supported our band from day one and every day we get new ones as well. We are just really glad people are resonating with our music. We are very very grateful.

12. What do you think of our site?

It’s such a great platform to discover new artists and be aware of what’s going on in the music world! 15. Something add? Thanks for the interview and wish you all the best in life! Stay tuned for upcoming news and, if you like our band, like and subscribe on YouTube, Spotify, Instagram, etc. We have very cool stuff in the oven.
