Interviews: Atomic Kavemen

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Hard Rock band Atomic Kavemen from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

It wasn’t planned. We needed a name and Atomic Kavemen was the only one left.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I’m still not sure what genre we are. James (drums) writes most of the music and he’s a hard rock kind of guy. I (Morey) write the vocal melodies and I’m more of a post-punk. People hear different things when they listen to us.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, James was friends with each of us individually before asking us to join the band. The friendships range from 8 to 25 years before the band was formed.

4. Each band member favorite band?

James: Queensryche

Morey: Faith No More

Todd: Iron Maiden

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Your mom. But we also draw inspiration from sour relationships, tragedies, and general despair.

6. Where was your last gig?

The Red Hat in Concord, CA. It’s a small dive bar with a few regulars.

7. Where would you like to act?

We’d like to play a gig in Sacramento but no offers so far.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We’re happy to play with most anyone that call themselves punk, metal, or hard rock.

9. Whom not?

No country, polka or pop acts, please.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Yes, I get pretty nervous when I step on stage. My best advice is to do a shot or two before you go on.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

My favorite acts of all time include Voivod, Mr. Bungle, The Jesus Lizard, Samhain, and the Misfits. Each of these bands has opened up new passageways in my brain.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Genital warts.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love both of them. We wouldn’t still be going if they hadn’t come along.

14. What do you think of our site?

Very cool! We’ll try to keep up with you now.
