Interviews: Caustic Casanova

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock band Caustic Casanova from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Francis and Michael (our original guitar player) came up with the name in college. They both like alliteration and thought the name sounded cool and would be memorable.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We didn't set out with a genre in mind - we just wanted to make eclectic and memorable heavy music. We don't abide by any rules when we write a song, we just try to make an interesting and catchy metal-inspired heavy rock that we'd want to listen to.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We all went to William and Mary and formed in college in 2005. Francis and Michael (the original guitar player) were freshmen hallmates and they found Stefanie from a Facebook search of people interested in drums.

4. Each band member favorite band?

That is a tough question - and since it's just me (Stefanie) answering I'll just say that all of us have a particular fondness for Queens Of The Stone Age. Actually, I'll take a stab at this and they can yell at me later if my guess is wrong. Francis' favorite band is probably Rush or Melvins. Andrew's is probably Isis. Jake's is probably Led Zeppelin, and mine is....probably QOTSA.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Francis always says he started playing bass and wanted to be in a band because of Rush's Permanent Waves and AC/DC's Back in Black. Anyone out there creating unique music that doesn't stick to pre-written rules is inspirational.

6. Where was your last gig?

The Pinch in Washington, DC with Myopic, Sweaty Mammoth, and Goosed.

7. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I think all of us are pretty comfortable on stage but all of us have also been nervous from time to time. It's really easy to overcome any sort of stage fright when the crowd is really digging what we're playing, so we always try to tune into that energy when it happens.

8. What bands have inspired you the most?

Very, very many, but a few I'll name are Rush, Melvins, QOTSA, Isis, Black Sabbath, King Crimson, Clutch, Jawbox, and Kyuss.

9. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Interesting question, but I don't remember being asked for anything necessarily weird...yet.

10. What do you think of your fans?

We love our fans and always enjoy to talking to anyone at our shows!

11. What do you think of our site?

Any site that features up-and-coming DIY heavy music is pretty ok in our book!

12. Something add?

Stay tuned for our new record 'God How I Envy The Deaf' out in October on Magnetic Eye Records!
