Interviews: DIESEAR

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Melodic Death Metal band DIESEAR from Taiwan. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Diesear: Diesear is a compound word. In Latin, “Dies” means days and “Sear” means marking. We found those words from a Christian leaflet at the day we established Diesear. It generally said, “It makes everyone, no matter old or young, rich or poor, sovereign or slavery, mark a sign on their right hand or forehead.” So we were thinking about “Can music influence people and reverse all the unjust between rich and poor? Also, is it possible for our music to leave a sear in listeners minds? We hope the music of Diesear could soar beyond politics, commerce, nations, and races. Those things only disunite people, and we want to go further than that, we want to diminish the barriers between humans.” That’s why we decide to name ourselves “Diesear”. Hopefully, we can achieve some greatness and let people understand that music is able to cross boundaries and dissensions.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Diesear: Because we all enjoy Melodic Death Metal music. It can be so violent and brutal yet beautifully sophisticated at the same time. It is a perfect combination of different elements, which can truly help us expressing ourselves.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Sui: Yen and I were good friends before he joined Diesearand I met Sathon when Diesear toured with Children of Bodom in Asia. Basically, we are all close friends before we played in the same band.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Sui: My favorite band is 〈At The Gates〉,〈In Flames〉,〈Children Of Bodom〉,...etc. These great bands I love are usually from Scandinavia.

Yen: There are so many bands that I dig into. Yet, 〈Arch Enemy〉, 〈In Flames〉, 〈Dark Tranquility〉 and 〈Testament〉 are my all-time favorite! They do inspire me a lot.

Sathon: There are so many bands that I love making naming them all a hard task. Although my top 3 is settled.... 〈Angra〉, 〈Rhapsody(of fire)〉, 〈Therion5〉.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Diesear: All kinds of unjust subjects or dark side of humanities around our lives are the inspirations. For example, the song “BloodRed Inferno” , which is our title track from “BloodRed Inferno”, is actually discussing wars around the world and the violent parts that reside in people’s heart. Also, “Carnal Sinner” from “BloodRedInferno” talks about how moralities are constantly transforming in history. So it’s a fair standard, or it’s a chain of unjust? All those kinds of subjects are the roots of our music.

6. Where was your last gig?

We toured with C.O.B in Asia a few years ago.

7. Where would you like to act?

Sui: I would say the USA , Northern Europe, Japan is my top 3 choices, especially Finland and Japan means a lot to me.

Yen: USA! I’m always hoping to have a cross-nation tour in the USA. Besides blowing Americans’ minds, I also look forward to understanding US culture, seeing spectacular views.

Sathon: Honestly... anywhere that have people who appreciate and enjoy our show. Anywhere can be special for me.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Sui: Anders Fridén from 〈In Flames〉 and Kai Hahto from 〈Wintersun〉. They are two of the greatest players in this world.

Yen: Maurizio Iacono from 〈Kataklysm〉, he has the brutal voice which I really admire. Sam Carter from 〈Architects〉, the emotional voice of him is more than powerful in my opinion.

Sathon: Umm... Stevie T.

9. Whom not?

Sui: Kevin Hart, cos he’s so hilarious I am pretty sure that I wouldn’t be able to play my guitar properly.

Yen: Justin Bieber?

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Sui: Of course, I think a great tube high gain Amp is important, but one time the equipment wasn’t provided while I was doing the show. That definitely got me anxious. My tip is, 1, If possible, just bring your Amp on the Tour.2, Just take a great hi-gain Distortion pedal on road.

Yen: I will say that it normal to be suffered from stage fright for beginners but my tip is to enjoy this feeling. This kind of feeling can bring you energy and keep you stimulated, which I think is one of the most important feelings before the shows.

Sathon: I suffered a lot in earlier years of playing.

My tips are, prepare yourself well would be very helpful. Not just practice your music but take care of your equipment, observe the stage before the show to feel it. Enjoy your day there to relax.

Do mind about your bandmates. I mean… you will do this thing together. You can tell yourself that you’re not alone. If this will be a shame or fame, you will never face it alone.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Diesear: In Flames, At the Gate and Arch Enemy, etc… all the amazing Melodic Death Metal bands inspire us a lot. Besides heavy metal music, X Japan, Luna Sea, Dir en Grey influenced Diesear a lot that you can find some Japanese elements in Diesear music and outlooks.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Sui: Weird questions pop up more than weird demands. The “Why you don't wear shorts on the stage..." is one hell of absurd one.

Yen: I think fans are kind to me and they never ask me anything which might be too weird for me.

Sathon: They asked for my used drumsticks especially the one that soaked with my blood.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Diesear: They are awesome. We Diesear is incomplete without them. They are part of us and support us to challenge bigger goals. We are glad to have each fan’s support.

14. What do you think of our site?

Diesear: We think “Breathing the Core” is one of the best websites to get news and information about heavy music from. It has clean web pages and super detailed music genres classification which is rare to see and it is much easier to find the information we need. Awesome!

15. Something add?

The new album “Bloodred inferno” is out now, go check it out and enjoy it. We believe that we will meet your fans in the near future.
