Interviews: RIG TIME!

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the  Metal band RIG TIME! from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Long story short, it kept being screamed at us and reminds us of being on the road. It's more fun to keep the mystery alive. It's a weird name, but it's formed its own meaning over the years and people love screaming it at us.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Before RIG TIME! started, I played guitar in a faster, more melodic hardcore band. After doing that for a few years, I wanted to try something slower, sludgy, doomy and with a big emphasis on groove. We liked playing heavy music and it mostly stemmed from doing something different as a change of pace.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Rebecca (Guitar/Bass) and I met in 2010, and RIG TIME! formed in 2014. She had been on the road with my old band a lot prior to RT! starting and was slowly learning the guitar the whole time. Once that old band dissolved, we had an improv jam one day and it just clicked. We knew right there we had to start something.

4. Each band member favorite band?

That is a tough question. I can say my hands down favorite band is Deftones, but Chromeo, Rotting Out and The Smiths are close by. For Rebecca, definitely The Greenery, Dead Hearts or Downhearted. We both love most of the same bands though. We're big fans of The Acacia Strain, Issues, The Ramones, Incendiary, The Ongoing Concept, Korn and it go on and on.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We draw our influence entirely from feeling. We're a very emotional band with a lot of passion for what we do and the music we make. If an artist or song inspires us, we want to create something that gives us that same feeling we get when we hear it. Rather than trying to copy their sound, we strive to recreate that internal feeling they gave us.

6. Where was your last gig?

We're on tour right now out east, and we played in North Adams, MA last night at a cool spot called The Game Room. We're in the van right now heading to Burlington, VT to perform tonight.

7. Where would you like to act?

Rebecca would want to be in any movie with Adam Sandler. I would love to go back in time and do anything with Chris Farley.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

I'd love to collaborate with The Acacia Strain or have Ice Cube on a track. Sounds weird, but that would be so hard. I'd love to have someone with a really tough voice on one our tracks or myself on something of theirs. Put me on a stage with Deftones someday and let me sing anything. I'd die happy then.

9. Whom not?

We're open to all creative outlets if it lined up the right away.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Rebecca admits she still gets nervous before every show. I have to meditate and get in my head completely clear before I play. I can't talk to anyone or think too hard. I think allowing yourself to be confident that you know your material and to only focus on you enjoying playing your set helps. Don't worry about the crowd. Filly immerse yourself in your songs and let it flow.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Most of the favorite bands we mentioned before. I listened to a ton of Nu Metal growing up, and that really sticks with me in my drumming. We have too much or wide mess of inspiration to narrow it down to a select few.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Weirdest? Not sure, but anytime someone wants a pic, autograph, setlist, stick, etc… I think “Sure, but we're not special!” (Laughs). No egos hear. We're just two people who like to make music and tour constantly. We always appreciate it more than anything when people support it though.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We don't have fans in our mind, they are all our friends. If you're a fan of what we do, you're our friend and we thank you wholeheartedly.

14. What do you think of our site?

Breathing the Core is sick. All the links to new bands, music, opinions and all the options is a really cool tool to find some new art to feed your ears.

15. Something add?

Be sure to check out our new single “NO FAITH”. It's our favorite song we've written, and we are proud to share it with you. Follow RIG TIME! on Spotify, Apple, Facebook, etc, etc. You know the drill! Thanks for chatting with us!
