Interviews: Ambers

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Progressive Metalcore band Ambers from Germany. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

There is no real meaning or story behind it. We wanted a rather neutral-sounding band name, and our drummer came up with “Ambers”. We all liked it – so it was decided.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We share a deep love and obsession with metal and extreme music, so it is very natural for us to express and challenge ourselves in this way. Combining our musical preferences, we came up with an intense sound alongside an emphasis on progressive riffs paired with unusual yet melodic chords.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Actually, we´re all friends of friends except for our drummer - we found him through social networks as he was looking for a heavy band to play with.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Peter (vocals): All Shall Perish

Ben (guitar): Pacels

Maurice (guitar): Chelsea Grin

Felix (bass): Whitechapel

Tobi (drums): Kingdom of Giants

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Ben wrote the songs mostly by himself, starting from a riff idea, relying more on his gut feeling than using a purely methodical writing approach. On the basis of his pre-production, our drummer adjusts his parts and our vocalists write the lyrics before we practice the songs in the rehearsal room.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig before the release of our debut EP was in Munich supporting the death metal legends Aborted and Decapitated. Needless to say, it was insane and an amazing experience to play in front of over a thousand people!

7. Where would you like to act?

We´re looking forward to being able to play tours in different countries, starting from Germany.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

This could become a very long list... let's settle with Humanity’s Last Breath, After The Burial and Monuments

9. Whom not?

Eskimo Callboy

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Some of us still get quite nervous before playing in front of a big crowd, but when the first tunes come in it quickly vanishes. I guess being confident with your music is the best way to fight stage fright.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

As Ben is the main writer, his favorite bands Silent Planet, Architects and Kingdom of Giants are the main influences of Covariance.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

The weirdest thing was definitely when a fan asked one of us what the wifi-password for the venue was.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We appreciate everyone who enjoys our music and supports us by listening, coming to our shows or even sharing our social media posts. It's an amazing feeling when fans come up to the merch table after a show and tell you how great you were.

14. What do you think of our site?

Having media like Breathing The Core is awesome both for bands and music lovers. Supporting underground bands isn´t happening that much nowadays so thank you for being part of the scene!

15. Something add?

We´ve released two music videos to our debut EP Covariance, so if you haven´t heard of them - take a look!
