Interviews: Plastic Friends

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Rock band Plastic Friends from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

WILL: “The three original members of the band were brainstorming potential band names, and while we were discussing the name 'Plastic Frames,' Matt blurted out: 'Plastic Friends.' For some reason, we all looked at each other and said, 'That's it.' We've grown to love the name because of all its potential meanings based on life experiences. We've all had fake or 'plastic' friends. We all grew up playing with action figures, or our 'plastic' friends. And now in today's society, everyone is glued to their smartphones or their 'plastic friends.'”

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

WILL: “We grew up listening to distorted guitars, rocking solos, a grooving rhythm section, and sing-song vocals – so it all just came naturally to us.”

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

WILL: “Matt, Phil and I played in a previous band together called 'Consuming the Airplane,' and Nate actually knew Matt from their childhood.”

4. Each band member favorite band?

WILL: “Third Eye Blind.”

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

WILL: “The lyrics I write are based on life experiences, whether something happened to me personally, someone I know, or I experienced it through some form of fiction or non-fiction.”

6. Where was your last gig?

WILL: “Our last gig was an EP Release Show at Tidballs in Bowling Green, Kentucky.”

7. Where would you like to act?

WILL: “I'd love to spend a summer performing at various music festivals across the country.”

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

WILL: “We'd be happy to tour with anyone!”

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

WILL: “Just be confident in yourself, your band and your music. Also, make sure you have fun on stage. When you enjoy yourself, so does the crowd.”

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

WILL: “Third Eye Blind, Incubus and Radiohead.”

12. What do you think of your fans?

WILL: "We have the best fans! They regularly attend our shows and sing along with us. While I'd like to think that I perform the same whether I'm in front of 10 or 10,000, it's nice to play for a large, enthusiastic and supportive crowd.”
