Interviews: ARCHANGEL A.D.

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Thrash Metal band ARCHANGEL A.D. from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We had been discussing band names for a while at the beginning, and one day, our ex-guitarist Matt Karr saw a pamphlet from his church of the Archangel Michael stabbing the shit out of the Devil, and he was like “that’s cool,” no one objected really, and so we settled on Archangel. A few months later we added the “A.D.” to differentiate ourselves from the other 10000000 Archangel groups out there.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Growing up, we were all influenced by a lot of different music and artists. The one that really stuck, though, was thrash metal. I think we can all agree that the Big 4 were all huge contributors to our music tastes, and forming a thrash band was just something we all wanted.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

No, we were all strangers. But we formed a brotherhood through music, and eventually, we all became really close friends.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Justin/Metallica, Jake/Coheed and Cambria, Edward/Megadeth, Roman/Judas Priest.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Anything and everything, really. What we tend to do is come up with a song title that sounds really cool, and write a song around that. Most of the time our lyrical content is based on evil/fantasy/medieval stuff, but it can be about anything really.

6. Where was your last gig?

At the Hop Shop in Harlingen, Texas

7. Where would you like to act?

We would love to tour in Europe or Japan. Honestly just the whole world.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We have some buddies from Laredo, Texas called Lore that I (Justin) would personally love to collaborate with.

9. Whom not?

I don’t really know... any sort of pop-punk band?

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

When we are together, we never really get nerves. Just being around my buddies and knowing that they have my back makes me feel at ease every time we perform. When I perform alone, that’s when I get stage fright. Honestly, it just comes down to practicing performing, and breathing correctly.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

I have to say Metallica, Black Sabbath, Evile, Opeth, Chicago, Candlemass, and soooo many more. It’s hard to keep track.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Honestly, we haven’t had too many strange requests from fans. I at least can’t think of anything off the top of my head right now.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We think they are awesome people that like good quality music. But in all honesty, just getting the support from people, being such a small/underground band means SO MUCH. Seeing people make appreciation posts, sharing our music, and just talking about us or repping our merch, it warms my soul.

14. What do you think of our site?

I think it’s awesome how you give a platform to smaller bands, and make space and time for them on your website!

15. Something add?

Thanks for the interview, don’t forget to listen to our new single EVENTIDE! Share it, share us, stay metal, and stay golden, ponyboy.
