Interviews: Below The Bottom

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Hardcore band Below The Bottom from Greece. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The band name came from Hatebreed's song “Below the Bottom”, from their album “Perseverance”. It was a massive influence for us at the time.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

It wasn't really planned. We just love the genre, so one thing kinda led to another.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Stefanos (drums) and Mike (guitars) knew each other since high school, but playing together in the band came a few years later.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Hatebreed, Snapcase, Madball, Dying Fetus and Napalm Death

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

The current socio-political landscape and its underlying corruption, the violation of human and animal rights as well as struggles of human nature.

6. Where was your last gig?

It was a DIY gig in our home town of Heraklion.

7. Where would you like to act?

Everywhere! Playing live is a blessing and so cathartic

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

It's somewhat agreed upon that our #1 would be Walls of Jericho. Mike saw them live in Warsaw and he has been quite outspoken about their energy and how tight their performance was.

9. Whom not?

No racists, nazi or homophobic people. We seriously have zero tolerance for this kind of behavior.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Not really A bit anxiety is healthy sometimes, but nothing too serious. As for beginners, while playing live especially for the first time might seem daunting, practice makes perfect. Practicing the entire set, not just stand-alone songs, will help build a good foundation for the band to expand upon (with stage presence, etc.) later.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Definitely Hatebreed, Earth Crisis, Biohazard and even metal acts like Slayer, Cannibal Corpse but in reality they are too many to mention all of them.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Not really weird, but the weirdest we had was that some fans wanted us to play the song we just finished playing live a second time in a row.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We are thankful for everyone who supports the underground bands.

14. What do you think of our site?

You have the guts to support the underground and a tougher genre, since it's not as commercialized as others. You have our respect for this. Keep up the good work!

15. Something to add?

Thank you for the interview! Our newest work, “Demagogy”, is planned for an early November release on all streaming platforms. On that note, if any promoter wants to book a show we will be more than happy to collaborate!
