Interviews: INNER 29

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Pop Punk band INNER 29 from Brazil. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Mateus Freitas (Vocals, Guitar, Piano) came up with the name during a History class back in high school. The class was on the 1929 great depression, and while daydreaming, he though of the band name Inner 29. It basically means "Inner Crises", since most songs deal with inner and personal subjects. There are a lot of pop-punk bands with numbers on their names, so we thought we would fit well enough with the band.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We all like pop-punk, and Mateus had written a few pop-punk songs on his own before we all came together. The band was initially composed of only him, and since most songs were already completed, we just learned how to play them in a band setting.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, we all played in together in church before.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Mateus: Relient K, Switchfoot and Mae

Alexandre: Foo Fighters, Green Day and Oficina G3

Anderson: Pink Floyd, Foo Fighters, The Strokes

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Almost all of the lyrics came from thinking about a small situation that happened in real life, and them writing a song as if it was 10 times more dramatic and relevant, while imagining how would we react in that case.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was also our first one. It was at a brewery called Zeit in our hometown. We opened for a more well known local Punk rock band called Scumbags.

7. Where would you like to act?

We think it would be awesome to maybe one day play anywhere in the USA.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

There are a few Indie Vision Music we'd love to play with, such as Light The Way and The Prettybads.

9. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Yes! Alexandre and Mateus played for the first time in front of an audience together back in 2013. We were terribly frighten. Mateus was also nervous at our first gig because it was the first time he sang live with a band ever. We think that the only way to beat the freight is to just go for it, no matter what people will say. The first time may not be best, but if you want to get stage experience, you gotta start somewhere.

10. What bands have inspired you the most?

While writing and producing our first EP that is coming out November 22nd, we were heavily influenced by bands like Relient K, Mae, Jimmy Eat World and Copeland.

11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We love them! It's great to see that, now with a record label promoting our music, our fanbase seems to be growing in places and countries we couldn't reach on our own before.

12. What do you think of your fans?

No fan ever asked us for anything too weird, but that is probably because we haven't played too many shows yet.

13. Something add?

Our new EP "Now and Again, Here" comes out November 22nd. We love how it sounds, and we hope you guys do too. Thanks!
