Interviews: Almost Honest

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Stoner Metal band Almost Honest from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Shayne: We came up with it in high school and thought it sounded cool. We then later gave it our own meaning, that you don’t really know what to expect from us musically. We also later found out it was a popular Megadeth song. Oops.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Quinten: We didn’t intentionally shoot for any genre. Our music is a result of our personal styles also influenced by the bands we listen to. We are fond of groovy, heavy hitting riffs which ultimately brings you to Doom.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Quinten: Shayne and Seth have known one another since Kindergarten. They are basically as close as brothers. They started making music together in 5th grade. I joined Almost Honest in high school and it quickly clicked with the Almost Honest puzzle.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Quinten: Red Hot Chili Peppers

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Shayne: A mixture of Pennsylvania Dutch culture, folklore, personal experiences, and nature.

6. Where was your last gig?

Seth: Cafe 611 in Frederick Maryland. We opened for The Obsessed and got meet JP Gaster from Clutch. Fantastic night.

7. Where would you like to act?

Shayne: We will play anywhere there are people who want to listen to us. 8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Shayne: Clutch, Red Fang, Greenleaf, Mutuid Man, basically anyone making rad sounds

9. Whom not?

Seth: Probably no one, we will pretty much open for anyone, ya know, as long as they're cool

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Quinten: I used to get nervous at the very beginning. The best tip I can give is to keep doing it, and do it big. One thing that broke my stage fright, was performing in marching band in a huge stadium in front of lots of people. It was terrifying,m but after that I haven’t really experienced stage fright since.

Seth: When we first formed the band, I would get nervous every time before a show. Until one show I will always remember at a house party when we were in highschool, we just decided to act crazy and have fun with it. And it was a blast. Ever since then I always get really excited and happy before playing.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Shayne: Clutch, Red Fang, The Beatles, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Moe., Mutoid Man, Arctic Monkeys

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Seth: An encore, I didn't think people liked our music that much! But on a serious note, no overtly weird requests. 

13. What do you think of your fans?

Shayne: I love our fans, because every time I talk to them I feel like I have known them for a long time. They are always the nicest people.

14. What do you think of our site?

Quinten: It is a fantastic resource for people to discover new music they otherwise wouldn't have found on their own. Sites like this are wildly important for our efforts to reach new fans.
