Interviews: Dark Below

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Hard Rock band Dark Below from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We were actually called “Downphase” before Dark Below and we were told by our producer Malcolm that the name sucked and we needed to come up with something better. He told me that I wrote some pretty dark stuff but didn’t really look like the kind of guy who would, so that’s where the idea of “Dark Below” came from.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I was raised on rock music, so for me it never really seemed like there was any other option. I just love heavy aggressive music, so I knew it was what I wanted to do.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

No. I met our bassist Joshie through our former drummer who was a friend of his, and we met Quin through making a Facebook post looking for a drummer.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Mine is probably either Chevelle or 10 Years, Joshie’s is either Beartooth or Foo Fighters and Quin is a big fan of The Spice Girls.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

It can be anything, really. It might be something I see on tv or hear on the radio, or it might be something that I’m having a lot of thoughts about that just ends up becoming a song. 6. Where was your last gig? Our last gig was at The Blue Note in our hometown of Columbia opening up for Pop Evil.

7. Where would you like to act?

I’d really love to be able to play at The Pageant in St. Louis. Everything I’ve ever heard from people who have played there is that it’s amazing, so I hope we get that opportunity some day.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

There are so many bands we’d love to play with, but for me personally it would have to be either Chevelle or 10 Years.

9. Whom not?

I don’t think there’s anyone that I’d specifically not want to play with at this point and I hope that doesn’t change!

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Yeah, the first time we ever played a “show”, which was really an open mic night in front of 20 or so friends and family, I was unbelievably nervous. I thought I was probably going to vomit before we went and played, but we just got up there and did it and it just sort of washed away. I still get a little nervous sometimes, but there’s never been anything like that first time. Just getting up there and doing it and knowing you can do it just gives you a little bit of confidence I think, so that was really all it took.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

There are so many. Chevelle, Breaking Benjamin, 10 Years, Green Day, The Offspring, Silverchair, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Eve 6, Blink 182, etc. There are so many from so many different genres of rock that it’s hard to think of them all.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I really can’t think of anything too weird. All I can think of right now is signing various body parts.

13. What do you think of your fans?

They’re the best! We still can’t believe that there are people who support us the way they do, so they really mean a lot to us. Just getting the opportunity to do this means the world to us and it’s because of them.

14. What do you think of our site?

Looks really cool! It’s awesome to see a place with so much content from all over, I’m looking forward to sitting down and seeing what all it has to offer.

15. Something add?

Just want to say that you for giving us the opportunity to do this interview, we really appreciate it! Thanks to everyone who has supported us, it really means the world!
