Interviews: The Collision

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the  Rock band The Collision from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name?

We all have a range of musical backgrounds of different styles; the name represents “The Collision” of our musical tastes.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We were an indie rock band for a few years. During this time we gained our passion for live shows, our confidence and energy on stage and overall love of writing music. But we felt we didn’t fit the scene we played in. Being fans of heavier music, we have slowly drifted toward a bigger, heavier sound, finding ourselves using more synths, lower tunings and setting ourselves apart from our local scene.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

The drummer and guitarist are brothers so they have known each other a little while. The bassist has been close to them for 7 years before the band formed. The vocalist was looking for a band so Tom, Chris and Evan applied.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Lewis - Moose Blood

Tom - Architects

Chris - Ice Nine Kills

Evan - A Day To Remember

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

When we gain a new love for a song, we listen to it over and over again supporting the artist more and more, listening more, going to shows, buying merch, etc. The feeling of being the creator of that track must be surreal to speak out your passion, emotion or stories to all those people. We want to feel that. We have a passion. We have emotions. We want the stories.

6. Where was your last gig?

The 1865 in Southampton, supporting Our Propaganda.

7. Where would you like to play?

Alexandra palace, to stand where our idols have.

8. Who would you like to support?

Normandie, Beartooth and Bring Me The Horizon.

9. Who not?

A jazz quartet as I don’t think their fans would appreciate it.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright?

Tom (Bass) did. He struggled to come out of his shell when put in front of people. However, we played so many shows that it become the norm. The more energy and passion we put in, the more fun and rememberable we were. If we have any advice for stage fright, it would be that you need to do it over and over again and you will find yourself comfortable on stage. How do you know you’re going to be the next big thing without giving it everything you’ve got?

11. What bands inspired you the most?

Beartooth, A Day To Remember, Bring Me the Horizon, Don Broco, Normandie

12. What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

A fan’s mum, asked us to attend her daughters 18th birthday meal and play a personal acoustic set in the restaurant. We actually really enjoyed ourselves and if she ever reads this, thanks again for the food!

13. What do you think of your fans?

We are currently going through a genre change but our fans are still supporting us through it and we appreciate them taking this journey with us!

14. What do you think of our site?

Easy to get around and promotes a variety of bands on each page, exposing as much music as possible. Loved finding out how many sub-genres of metal there are!

15. Something to add?

We are currently planning our next 2 years, and the consistency of releases is going to increase! We are setting up some big shows and new ideas to interact with our fans more. BRING ON 2020!
