Interviews: Brocarde

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock artist Brocarde from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the artist on her WEBSITE.

1. Where did you get the idea for your name, you planned it or came out just like that?

I gave it a lot of thought, in many ways I wanted a word that meant nothing and a lot at the same time, to me the word Brocarde signifies the art of being intricately woven, the coming together of a lots of different influences and dynamics and being one whole.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

The whole notion of genre isn’t something I care for, I often blur the lines between so many different areas I’m not even sure where I sit. I try to orchestrate my emotions, everything is about telling a story, an outpouring of passion. I love the earthy undertones of rock and metal, those sounds are fundamental in the conveying the darker sides of my emotions and I like the mix of that with the counter balance of fragility. I’m a person of extremes.

3. Who are your favorite bands/ artists?

That’s a good question, I’m not sure, it’s variable I like things from classical music to heavy metal.

4. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I think I write as a form of therapy it helps me deal with my emotions. I take inspiration from people who I’m close to, I write about personal experiences, I try to turn everything I’m going through into something positive and that’s what music does. It’s empowering, it provides a shield, things aren’t so bad when words are surrounded by a delicate violin of a pounding bass line. Ultimately I love words, I love playing around with them, words can be both weapon and a kiss.

5. Where was your last gig?

I perform constantly, I’m not sure if you could call it a gig though.

6. Where would you like to play?

The Hollywood Bowl with a full orchestra, that place is magical, you can see the stars and you're open to the elements, I used to live right next to it and I want my name on that placard. Brings a whole new meaning to howling at the moon.

7. Who would you like to support?

Queen!

8. Who not?

I’m not going to throw shade at a random stranger. Positivity is key.

9 Have you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I’m always fine once I get out there, adrenaline takes over any kind of fear. I think overthinking is a big culprit and I am guilty of this sometimes, when you build things up in your own mind that can take over. I think you just have to be prepared, know your set, and accept that you can’t control things.

10. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Usually, some kind of niche sexual exploits haha!

11. What do you think of your fans?

Absolute raving lunatics, all of them, I’m joking of course, I appreciate anyone who likes what I do.

12. What do you think of our site?

I will check it out.

13. Something to add?
