Interviews: Crimson Star

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock/Alternative Rock band Crimson Star from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Jay: The name was a song from a previous band, which was about someone very close to me and when it came to picking a band name, it just seemed to fit with the musical style and direction we were looking to go.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Jay: Its music with balls and it’s the only thing that makes me feel alive. 3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Jay: Me and Roj first met in the mid 00’s when both playing in different metal bands, that used to gig together frequently. When I started this new project in 2015, we needed someone with a huge bass sound, as we wanted to be a 3 piece and Roj was an obvious choice that came to mind.

Roj: Chris we found after searching for a new drummer for almost a year! In the short space of time he has been in the band he has fitted in nicely and we couldn’t have asked for anyone better (other than Dave Grohl).

4. Each band member favourite band?

Jay: Pearl Jam

Roj: Meshuggah

Chris: Foo Fighters

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Jay: I listen to music from the moment I wake up each day, I don’t think theres ever been a day since maybe I was 12-13 where I haven’t listened to music, I simply need it in my life and couldn’t imagine not playing some sort of music until the day I die. There is no better feeling than writing a new song, performing it live and seeing the crowd react positive towards it! That inspires me to want to write more and keep on going.

6. Where was your last gig?

Chris: We last played the Giffard in Wolverhampton, alongside Six Sins ‘til Sunday and a local band that played their last gig, Pork.

7. Where would you like to play?

Roj: I dream of one day playing the royal albert hall, the acoustics are incredible.

Jay: Download Festival would be a dream come true for me.

Chirs: Namm in the USA would be amazing, so many emerging bands and talented artists.

8. Who would you like to support?

Jay: Nothing More, I feel our music would go down well with their fans! Other than that I suppose Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters or QOTSA would be okay.

9. Who not?

Jay: Nickelback!

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Roj: I used to suffer with this really bad, but we have a little routine before gigs to hype each other up, we can’t repeat the words we sing for this interview!

Jay: Luckily, I can hide behind my guitar and Mic on stage and I jump around so much I get over any nerves pretty quickly. I’ve been told I never look nervous but deep down I am, so must be really good at hiding it! I should be an actor…

Chris: the only thing that scares me is skipping a beat, luckily for the other guys that will never happen!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Jay: for me Pearl Jam is a band that have inspired me a lot, the way they exploded onto the scene then didn’t do a music video for another 4 albums, they did exactly what they wanted both sound wise and onstage and have an amazing relationship with their fans. Even now after being a band for nearly 30 years they play live for 3+ hours, simply an amazing band.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Chris: A dude came up to me and loved how I played the drums so much, he asked if I wanted to sleep with his girlfriend.

Jay: Can you sign your CD for me... Its a really weird feeling.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Jay: We love all 4 of them

Roj: Joking aside, we have some absolutely fantastic fans, they offer so much support and encouragement. We wouldn’t have half the exposure we do without their requests to radio stations, votes in-band polls and them spending their hard-earned cash on our CD’s and merch. We try and include them in the choice of merch designs and give them limited edition items and first listens of everything before official release.

14. What do you think of our site?

Roj: The Free Music section is fantastic! Encouraging people to have a track for free to hopefully spread the word is a great way of getting more regular listeners

15. Something to add?

Jay: Don’t believe everything you read!
