Interviews: Hellfekted
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Thrash Metal/Black Metal/Death Metal band Hellfekted from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name?
The band name came from where I and the old guitarist were talking about band names it was between
hellbound and infected and then it became Hellfekted but he didn’t stay in the band, not loner after
2. Why do you want to play this genre?
All of us are huge metal heads, everything we do in day to day life involves music somehow it's the one thing
that keeps us going. There's no genre to get you up and fight your way through things like metal. We all love it
to death and there's no other genre we could even think if playing.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Well, Chris (Bassist) and Liam (Guitarist/Vocalist) knew each other since the start of high school but never even
spoke as they were indifferent crowds so were basically strangers. It wasn't until they bumped into each other
in a nightclub that Liam just asked: "fancy joining a band?" To which Chris' answer was "fuck yeah!" Liam knew
Myles from Bloodstock however I (Chris) didn't meet him until he joined Hellfekted in early 2019 but all of us
feel like we've known each other for years and I've never clicked with people so fast.
4. Each Members favorite band?
Chris: My favorite band has to be Metallica I love loads of bands but they're the one that's driven me the
most, I learned to play bass purely because of Cliff Burton and they are the first metal band I ever heard and
kickstarted my music taste. I wouldn't be where I am if it wasn't for them.
Liam: simple really it’s Death because of evil and amazing they are but truly down to earth people and
everything about them is perfect and Bolt thrower because how heavy and how they can fuck stuff up and
their tone is truly one to remember and then power trip with how fast they are and how their sound is one to
destroy a person soul to the core and how their riffs are Fucking killer
Myles: Why I like Megadeth and jungle rot: I have been into Megadeth since I was 14 and really like Dave Mustaine's the attitude they have a great concept in their albums especially 'United abominations' I think jungle Rot are brilliant
because they apply simple techniques that work and their lyrics are always very powerful.
Weirdest thing a fan has asked for would be out single because of its a rare occurrence !
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
When it comes to songwriting it's more events in our lives, the structure of the world and things we've
experienced that influence them. With icons and inspirational people, they are more of an influence on our play
styles. Each one of us bases our play styles off one particular musician and then develops it into our own and our
play styles in turn help songs form.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last show was the Christmas show at The Underground in Stoke-on-Trent as main support for Vulgore on
the 23rd Decemeber. We did have an end of year show planned however we had to cancel as Liam had fallen ill
so we were sadly unable to perform.
7. Where would you like to perform?
We would love the opportunity to play Bloodstock or Download. A festival with a huge number of people all
there for the music. Playing with a huge crowd that you can get moving and get their heads banging is one of
the most amazing things. Not only that but the bands you get to see and meet while playing can have such an
impact. We recently did 2 shows outside of Stoke-on-Trent and we've made friends for life and discovered
some amazing people and music!
8. Whom would you like to perform with?
There's too many to choose from, but we would love to share the stage with again with Devastator and Blood
Church both absolutely incredible bands and great people as well. All of us have the same evil underlying tone
of Black Metal in our songs so if the 3 of us got on the same bill it would be absolutely incredible and
unforgettable.
9. Whom not?
The only people we don't want to play with are arrogant bands. I'm sure everyone agrees that bands who are
full of themselves and think they own the venue are all unlikeable at the best of times. We've seen it
everywhere, bands who don't care about the support acts, don't care about the fans and don't care about
anything other than their pay when they've done their set. In our opinion, they are the worst kind of musicians
and it's not what live music is about.
10. Any of you suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat it?
If you want people to see how you are and you want to be your best then there's no tricks or easy way out.
Personally, I (Chris) think that it just comes with time. Going on stage for the first time is scary you're so focused
on getting your parts right that you don't move much or move around a lot and look lively and completely mess
up your lines. It's time and practice, get comfortable being on a stage and in the light and your character will
follow naturally, it's better to be yourself up there and let your fans see YOU and not something you put on.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
The biggest inspirations to Hellfekted as a whole I think are the ones that have proven what it's possible to
become. We all have our personal idols but as a band then Bolt Thrower and Motörhead are the biggest drives.
With the band hailing from Stoke-on-Trent then the connection to Lemmy is obvious, if he can take a tag band from Burslem to world stages then why can't we he's proven it can be done and set the perfect example of
what you can do when you be yourself. Bolt Thrower is a favorite of all of us, classic old school death metal
and are a huge contributor to our style they set a standard for heavy
12. Whats the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you?
When we were all on stage and I heard someone shout can they have sex with us at the same time
13. What do you think of your fans?
We think our fans are amazing and dedicated they support us and make us feel like we're getting somewhere
and it like a dream come true how there supporting us by going crazy to our music and buying our merch and
sharing our stuff and being at most of our gigs there like a huge family to us!
14. What did you think of our site?
I had a look at it and I think its great on how you support the bands and make them known and help with there
music and gigs.
