Interviews: Ifreann

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Thrash Metal band Ifreann from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We decided to go with a Gaelic name, to respect our history and also have something more unique sounding.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Quite simply, it was our favourite genre when we formed the band (still is for most of us).

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

The first line-up met as a circumstance of finding members to form a band. Members that have joined since were friends before that we knew were available.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Euan - Megadeth

Jacob - Megadeth

Ian - Coheed & Cambria

Alina - Gojira

Ben - Wednesday 13.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

The passion for playing live in front of friends and fans.

6. Where was your last gig?

Not really a gig but we filmed a music video in our hometown of Edinburgh, which did involve live music in front of a crowd.

7. Where would you like to perform?

Any place that has people who enjoy our music. Any gig, big or small as long as everyone is having a good time. But also Germany.

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

It would be awesome to go on the road with a 00s era thrash band like Evile or Havok.

9. Whom not?

There aren’t really any bands we’d particularly like to avoid playing with. I guess any band that is disrespectful to fans, venue staff or other bands they play with.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Our singer, Ian, has stagefright, and the rest of us did at the start. Just keep reminding yourself that once you get on that stage and start playing, it goes away.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Off the top of my head; Testament, Death, old-Metallica, Iron Maiden & Exodus

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I was once asked if I had ADHD after a show.

13. What do you think of your fans?

They’re the best, and we all really appreciate them.

14. What do you think of our site?

Pretty damn gnarly!

15. Something to add?

Check out our new EP, ‘Desecration’, out Feb 21st (on all major streaming platforms)
