Interviews: State Of Millenia

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Pop Punk band State Of Millenia from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Reece: It’s a really rock and roll’s a mix between a band name generator and our (at the time) newly found interest in the word ‘Millennia’ we thought we’d make it with one ’n’ because we’re so cool and edgy. It’s a bit of a mouthful but we usually refer ourselves and our fan base as the SOM UNIT.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Danny: There was no ideal plan to write what we do. We are all inspired by many other genres so we just write based on what we are feeling!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Jordan: Dylan and Reece are brothers and both met Danny at school growing up. myself and Jules did not know anyone prior to meeting at college.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Jordan: Hard to say as my answer changes allot, a band I’m really enjoying at the moment is Mudmen.

Reece: My personal favourite band changes all the time. My favourite band of all time is Blink 182. But currently, it is The 1975.

Danny: Right now, probably Loathe, Sleep Token and Boston Manor.

Jules: Trash Boat is by far my favorite band!

Dylan: The Red Hot Chili Peppers are the ones for me.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Jordan: I would say that I am not inspired by a who or what, but I have a need and a want to write music. I don’t know where it comes from, one day I started writing and I haven’t stopped since, I love it too much to stop.

6. Where was your last gig?

Jules: The last show we played was at The Chinnerys in Southend-on-Sea! It was super fun and we got to watch some sick bands kill it!

7. Where would you like to play?

Danny: To be completely honest, anywhere and everywhere! Ally Pally would be a dream though.

8. Who would you like to support?

Dylan: The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Knuckle Puck and Neck Deep.

9. Who not?

Jordan: Tenacious D, they would melt my face and I need that.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Jules: I suffer from stage fright to the point where I want to throw up before shows even if its to 50 people but recently I’ve been trying to just tell myself “I know my parts, I can play them well and just enjoy the time you have on stage”. Although its easier said than done just try not to overthink and live in the moment!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Reece: For me it’s bands like Deftones, knuckle puck, loathe, Northlane, and The 1975 or literally just videos I see on social media that inspire me to pick my instrument up and write something.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Reece: I once got genuinely asked by a fan if they could buy my hat from me for £50. I said no at the time but god do I wish I had done it now.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Danny: Beyond grateful for every fan we have. The love we receive is the driving force behind our band and I am insanely appreciative of everyone that has ever supported us.

14. What do you think of our site?

Dylan: Looks good aesthetically and it’s easy to use!

15. Something to add?

Reece: I just want people to listen to this album loud from start to finish and experience each song with us. I hope you can vibe along to it and let it inspire you to do something like our heroes have inspired us. Welcome to the SOM UNIT.

Jules: Nothing to add apart from a shameless plug of our debut album ‘Feel Alive’ available everywhere April 3rd 2020.

Jordan: Tenacious D, if you’re reading this, please melt my face.
