Interviews: Friendship

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Hardcore/Grindcore band Friendship from Japan. 

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

It was named after some band’s song name.  We don’t actually have any intention or meaning to it.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Because we got influenced by the music we listen to.  Our current music style was produced by repeating the process of choosing and doing what we want in the situation we were in each time we make music.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Some were in the same band, some were friends who skateboard with.

4. Each band member favorite band?

We can’t choose one favorite, and some are not bands, but for example, Rage Against The Machine, Baptists, Mobb deep, etc.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Can think of too many, but as a band we keep a mentality of “how we could betray human senses”.

6. Where was your last gig?

At Antiknock Shinjuku. It was a gig for Jesus Piece Japan tour 2019.

7. Where would you like to act?

If we must choose one, USA.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

No one in particular.

9. Whom not?

Considering the genre we play there may be some bands that are obviously impossible to share a stage with. 

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

None of us ever had stage fright. If you are suffering from it , just make music at your home and share them from your pc.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

We got a lot of inspiration from bands who had releases from Southern Lord Records.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Maybe that person was not our fan, but we were once told to stop some violent act during the performance. Our vocalist broke that person’s bone by tackling him/her and was asked to pay the treatment cost.

13. What do you think of your fans?

As a person we are very grateful to them, but as from the band FRIENDSHIP, we appreciate no fans.

14. What do you think of our site?

We can feel the enthusiasm through your website since many and various contents are constantly released.
