Interviews: What We Lost

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the  Melodic Hardcore band What We Lost from Italy. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We were looking for a name that could convince us all, so in the end we chose What We Lost because we thought it sounded good for the music we wanted to play.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We used to define ourself as a melodic hardcore band in the past. With our latest EP “Pretend To Sleep” we believe that our music cannot be labeled just as “melodic-hardcore”, we added hints of genres we always loved, such as shoegaze, post rock and post-punk

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Andrea, our drummer, was in an alternative rock band with some former member of What We Lost. We met each other with some auction when they formed What We Lost

4. Each band member favorite band?

Enrico: Basement

Lorenzo: The Cure

Simone: Slowdive

Andrea: The 1975

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We all have relationships that ended badly in the past. In fact, this is a recurrent topic in our lyrics. Love is basically what inspire our songs the most.

6. Where was your last gig?

We played in our hometown Modena with the guys in Tripsitter from Austria. They are an awesome band and we love to share the stage with them all the time we can. Awesome people and awesome performers.  

7. Where would you like to act?

We would love to take a tour in mainland Europe and UK in the future. We had some bad luck in the past that forced us to cancel a UK and European tour. We also constantly receive beautiful feedbacks from Spain and we hope we can have a concert there as soon as possible.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We shared the stage several times with Acres. We became friends and we’d love to have a feature with them. Since dreaming has no limits, we would like to collaborate with band such as Bring Me The Horizon, My Chemical Romance and Architects

9. Whom not?

We respect musicians and we love music. We would consider any option.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

We always suffer from stage fright, it means you care. We just relax and enjoy the moment, giving the best we can to all the concert.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Touchè Amorè, Nothing, Movements, Basement, Casey, Pianos Become the Teeth, The Cure, Hundredth and many more.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We were asked once to sing “Happy Birthday” to a mom of a guy in the audience via WhatsApp Audio.

13. What do you think of your fans?

They’re the best. We haven’t released anything for more than a year since “Beds” and “Chamomile”, but “Curtains” and our latest EP “Pretend To Sleep” were well received, and we are super excited about that.

14. What do you think of our site?

We love it, you are a kind of heroes for us, you are extremely passionate and you do your best to give to young bands the visibility they deserve.
