Interviews: Aftermath

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Thrash Metal/Crossover band Aftermath from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

When we were looking for a band name we all wrote down names. I was working as a screener at O’Hare Airport when I was trying to come up with names. Wasn’t a great screener. Aftermath was one of the names on my list. I didn’t want it to sound generic or too thrash. I liked the meaning.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I was into heavy music at a young age. When I first heard Venom and the first Metallica demo I knew that I wanted to be in a thrash band. The aggression and speed made me want to play thrash.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Ray and I played together in a band with two other guys before we formed Aftermath. We actually went to the same grade school and high school. He is younger than me. Steve and I went to high school together. I actually took a free guitar lesson from him. Ray was still in high school and Steve and I just graduated when we decided to form the band. The three of us are still in the band. George joined the band right before we recorded our last record. It feels like he has been here since the beginning.

4. Each band member favourite band?

For me Van Halen – the Roth era.
Steve - Zeppelin
Ray – Judas Priest
George – The Doors

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I don’t get inspired by other artists or bands. Life is the inspiration.

6. Where was your last gig?

We played with Warbringer and Enforcer at a place called the Forge in Joliet, Illinois.

7. Where would you like to act?

Act? Like in a movie? Or do you mean what act would we like to play with? If it’s the second, the original lineup Slayer.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

In a movie or do you mean tour with?

9. Whom not?

The list is too long.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

None of us have had stage fright. Or so much that it was a problem. Everyone gets some nerves before going on stage, especially early on in your career. Practice before going onstage is important if the songs are good then it is easier to go on stage. 11. What bands have inspired you the most? Kiss made me want to be in a band. Van Halen’s attitude and approach to everything. The thrash scene inspired the music.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Nothing that odd

13. What do you think of your fans?

I think metal fans in general are the smartest and most knowledgeable fans of all genres. It is so cool to meet and hear from fans that knew us from the demo days.

14. What do you think of our site?

Really cool and informative.

15. Something you'd like to add?

WAKE UP AND KNOW YOUR ENEMY
