Interviews: Black Pestilence

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Black Metal/Rock band Black Pestilence from Canada. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

There really is no cool story behind the name. It sounded cool at the time and still does. Also no one had taken it. I suppose the name is more appropriate now than ever before. A pandemic will come and go, Black Pestilence is here to stay.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

At first I had played in a number of traditional sounding black metal bands before forming Black Pestilence. It was difficult to blend different genres together in those bands. The whole point of forming Black Pestilence was to combine a variety of different genres (mostly punk, thrash, and noise) and incorporate it in black metal.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, we had known each other from various other bands in the Calgary metal scene.

4. Each band member favorite band?

None of us have all time favourite bands. We listen to so many different bands it would be hard to pinpoint a favourite.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Current events, social issues, society, Satanism, etc.

6. Where was your last gig?

We performed with Soulfly and Toxic Holocaust at the Gateway in Calgary, AB.

7. Where would you like to act?

We have been planning to do a US tour. Hopefully things clear up with this virus that we can make that a reality next year.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

No one in particular. We have had the opportunity to perform with a number of bands we admire already.

9. Whom not?

There are a few bands, but I’d rather not say publicly.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Wearing a mask helps.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

There have been so many, it would take forever to list them all. But one of the original bands that inspired Black Pestilence since the beginning was, Endless Dismal Moan.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I don't think anyone has asked anything weird from me. Maybe it would be weird to others but probably at the time I just went with it for shits and giggles.

13. What do you think of your fans?

They are the fuckin’ best!

14. What do you think of our site?

It’s the fuckin’ best!

15. Something add?

“Hail the Flesh” will be released on May 1st. It will be available on all streaming platforms and on our Bandcamp (https://blackpestilence.bandcamp.com/) for digital download and CD.
