Interviews: Isle Of The Cross

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Progressive Death Metal band Isle Of The Cross from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

It came from Herman Melville and I liked it right away. It’s an unfinished work of Melville’s.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I’ve been into all things prog for most of my life - which includes prog-rock/prog-metal/prog-jazz/and all things avant-garde - so it’s always been part of me I would say.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

No, we didn’t know each other.

4. Each band member favourite band?

It’s very hard to have a ‘favorite’ while so many from so many genres have been influential - but so for me, (Je) - I’ll resign with Dream Theater. (Original Cast :))

Eric Gillette: Dream Theater

Eric Castiglia: Pantera

Diane Lee: Epica and Dream Theater

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Wow, so many things. Usually always issues of the heart and my own personal and current philosophical dilemmas - whether that be existential thought & theology and/or the current downfall of man altogether -mixed with some hope and redemption.

6. Where was your last gig?

We actually haven’t gigged as a band.

7. Where would you like to act?

I like more of the sit-down venue where the music can be processed a little more sensitively - but the combo of sit and stand is cool.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

No preference

9. Whom not?

No preference

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Everybody feels comfortable and I think it’s really just knowing the songs and enjoying playing them that helps overcome any stage fright.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Camel, Dream Theater, Ayreon, Circus Maximus, Darkane, Deep Forest, Cairo (CA prog original,) Enya, Anhidema, Erik Satie, Beethoven, Therion and the list goes on for quite a while!

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Probably just simply requesting a personal photo. Nothing too weird yet - but always welcome!

13. What do you think of your fans?

Those that have responded positively really seem to be into the style - and that’s really cool and complimentary! So - we love them!

14. What do you think of our site?

Very nice! Immense!

15. Something add?

Thank you for the time!
