Interviews: Paralandra

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the  Rock band Paralandra from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Paul: I happened to be reading the book, Perelandra, by CS Lewis. One of my favorite books, and just thought it was a cool name and thematically a cool concept for a band or album.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Paul: This is literally just what comes out naturally when I write, so it’s not really a preplanned idea

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Paul: Yes, I met Casandra when she was born, introduced myself as her dad, and she’s been my daughter ever since. Casandra and I met Sawyer and Dakota when they were playing in another local rock band called Crowning Alice about 6 years ago. We immediately hit it off, but had no idea they would end up being our rhythm section eventually!

4. Each band member favourite band?

Paul: Impossible to say, but probably the Beatles

Casandra: Alter Bridge

Dakota: Alter Bridge or Dream Theater

Sawyer: Probably Avenged Sevenfold or RHCP

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Paul: Musically, sometimes I’m just doodling on my guitar and come across melodies or riffs that I like. Lyrically, there’s usually something on my mind that causes me to write about it. None of our songs contain lyrical fluff or filler… Everything has some pretty deep context or origin.

6. Where was your last gig?

Paul: Hard Rock Casino in Tulsa Oklahoma

7. Where would you like to perform?

Paul: I would love to play Wembley Stadium, or Red Rock!

8. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Paul: For some reason I’ve never had stage fright, but then, I’ve always loved cutting up and entertaining! I don’t know for sure, but I’d say the more prepared you are, the more comfortable you probably will be.

9. What bands have inspired you the most?

Paul: The Beatles first and foremost, then Petra, Van Halen, Resurrection Band, King’s X, Foo Fighters, The Many Colored Death, Extreme

10. What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Paul: My hair!

11. What do you think of your fans?

Paul - I had no idea how important and inspirational fans could be before being in this band. They are EVERYTHING.

12. Something add?

We just wanted to play a couple songs we had written in a live setting seven years ago, and had no idea it would turn into this, but could not feel more blessed and lucky to be where we are. Hope it continues for many more!
