Interviews: ROT

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock band ROT from Italy. Check out the interview.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Actually, the name of the band was chosen instinctively because Eddy and I had a jam session inserted even before having a name and when the organizer was asked how we were asked to introduce ourselves, I dared to dare the initials of "Revolution Of Two" since at that moment we were two and it was an Avatar song that we loved and still love.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

The genre came spontaneously in what we listen to, combining all the things we like and experiencing, we say that our formula is always that of giving a lot of melody and harmony to the piece but with an aggressive solid base, for this, it can clearly be defined as melodic death metal.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

He met before the band, Eddy and I have been playing together for a long time and Bratto was a friend of ours with whom we also shared previous musical experiences, so let's play with the family haha!

4. Each band member favourite band?

As far as I'm concerned I think Avatar, Falling in Reverse and Nekrogoblikon, Eddy's favorite band I think are Avatar and Slipknot, the ones Bratt's favorite are Born Of Osiris, Dream Theater and Haken

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

In general, what we live every day, the experiences that teach us something, which makes us stronger or more fragile, the fear of what we don't know and the obsession that man has from many things that do not make him free

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last concert was in Piedimonte San Germano together with Jumpscare and Hate Parade, it was a great evening, there was a good response from the audience and we hope to do it again soon!

7. Where would you like to act?

Speaking of more accessible things we would like to play in northern Italy, we have never been there yet and it could be a good opportunity to spread our music more, if instead, we want to look further we would like to play in Sweden, Germany or even Japan, they are places that we like and from which a lot of good music comes.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We would love to play with Nekrogoblikon as they are still a fairly "accessible" band but we love a lot both as a band and as people and we think that a concert with them would be really crazy, we would also like to play with We Butter The Bread With Butter since they are also performing with a lineup without bass and drums and this makes us very similar, it would be fun! The maximum dream would obviously be to play together with the Avatars that inspired us so much and every day we take them as an example to go on and always be ourselves.

9. Whom not?

Honestly, there are no bands that we "hate" or that we particularly disgust, there are certainly artists that we don't like musically, but playing with them could reveal things that we didn't understand before or let us appreciate the artist as a "person", it sometimes happened to have prejudices about someone who later turned out to be a great person, so I always try not to dwell on the judgments.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I believe that we all suffer a bit at the beginning, finding the eyes of people you don't know is terrifying for many, let alone if you have to show your "skills" to those people with the fear of making mistakes or not appearing as you would like .. Speaking of me, I think it's something that I had up to 16 17 years, then I understood that if you have anxiety and fear you really risk compromising your performance and your image, the best way is to let go and express what you are playing, showing how much you like and doing everything possible to pass it on to others ... And slowly I started to like it so much that now I no longer have anxiety but a certain euphoria of doing what I like and passing it on to people I don't know, it's beautiful, I love that adrenaline ... I think Eddy and Bratt are also quite calm in front of the audience. The advice I can give is precisely to transform anxiety into energy, because you are playing your music, what you are in front of people who they have to remember you, you have to give a good picture of your music, who you are and how you like what you are doing, you just have to have fun.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

As already said before the Avatars most of all for their way of making and understanding music, I think they can be an example for all artists, not only metal, not only musicians, we have been deeply impressed by them and have left a mark in our musical and non-musical life. Then we also take a lot of inspiration from Death, Persephone, Rings Of Saturn but also to groups like Protest The Hero or Destrage, a bit of everything in short.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Once a fan and friend of ours asked us if he could go on stage with us at the next live and improvise a "heavy metal" song together, obviously we we accepted, but we didn't see it that day hahaha!

13. What do you think of your fans?

We want him a world of good, for us it is nice to see that someone is tempted to come to our lives and that immediately after the performance he also tells us simply "wow" in these two years (more or less this is the period of our existence) we managed to earn some loyal fans who follow us on social networks and ask us for the next live shows, we always try to remain friends with these people because having a good relationship with your listeners plus helping your music and their perception of what you do, what you are.

14. What do you think of our site?

Is cool! I like the way you talk about underground bands and the passion you put into what you do, keep it up!

15. Something add?

I think I talked a lot in this interview hahah ! So a big "Thank you" to you and our friends who follow us, We hope to be back on the live scene and soon fall in the studio on the second album, stay tuned, Bye!
