Interviews: Slave Revolt

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Hard Rock/Metal band Slave Revolt from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Jimi Ivins- The band name was Greg’s idea , we were originally just gonna do an ep together and release it but it kind of turned into something much bigger when we got the ball rollin!

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Jimi Ivins- All of us are definitely influenced by heavy music but we really didn’t have a genre plan whatsoever, this is just what we like to play and write. I guess this is just what we enjoy!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Jimi Ivins- Oh yea , Chris , Tuck and I go wayyy back and we used to play shows with Greg and Mikey’s old band (Madjul). Mikey even played drums in our old band (Bind) at one point! We are all good friends!

4. Each band member favourite band?

Jimi Ivins- Black Sabbath , Marilyn Manson , Motionless in White , Ice Nine Kills

Tuck- Metallica , Rush , Dream Theater , Fear Factory Greg-Quicksand , Filter , Orange 9mm

Kris- Candiria , Dillinger Escape Plan , Korn , Slipknot

Mikey- A Perfect Circle , Tool , Deftones

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Jimi Ivins- Honestly, just daily life! Music is how I escape.

6. Where was your last gig?

Jimi Ivins- the last gig I played was I believe at the Brighton Bar in Long Branch around 2012!

7. Where would you like to act?

Jimi Ivins- I would love to perform on the west coast one day!

8. Whom would you like to feature?

Jimi Ivins- Any awesome acts of the same genre really! I am always up for collaboration as well!

9. Whom not?

Jimi Ivins- My bass player Kris , he is a terrible friend and confidant. Do you believe I put my trash out on the street and that fool drove by and stole it!?

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Jimi Ivins- I totally can relate to this , I have social anxiety so at first getting on stage was very nerve-racking. Eventually if it is where you wanna be you get used to it , I always find solace in remembering that all of this is temporary and all that worry gets tiresome.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Jimi Ivins- Well I am definitely influenced by Manson and Zombie, I always had a love for that big industrial sound. It's a soft spot

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Jimi Ivins- I am going back a long time for this one...2003ish I think. My old band had just finished playing a show and some girl in the crowd made us all sign her pants lol! Still a hilarious story.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Jimi Ivins - I think the obvious answer to this is that we love them. We are just getting started and have already had so much support from everybody and couldn’t be happier! I can’t wait to see what this next year brings!

14. What do you think of our site?

Jimi Ivins- I actually love the site! It is easy to use and very organized! I can’t wait to find some new music to listen to on it!

15. Something to add?

Jimi Ivins- thank you so much for taking the time to check out our music! We have plenty of exciting things coming and hope you all enjoy it as much as we enjoy making it!
