Interviews: THEOSOPHY

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Black Metal band THEOSOPHY from Russia. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Too many years ago I searched a band name for a new black metal project. I had a list with several items and showed this to my friend with whom we played in another band. My variants were terrible... and he suggested about a dozen other variations of the name. I liked one of these, because "Theosophy" sounds very concise and also linked with religion – it’s a good provocation from Black metal band.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

In the beginning I wanted to play other music, lighter and less extreme. But maybe I did not have the patience and like-minded people who would support this idea. Over time, my music stuff and experiments became harder, faster. I played in a band influenced by black metal. These facts affected the fact that I came to the Black Metal.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, we played with Egiborg for a long time in another band. Egiborg and XI were familiar too. Only with Skinner we met after his join to our band.

4. Each band member favorite band?

It's too many great bands in the world! In a modern Black Metal, I like Archgoat and Belphegor at the moment. Egiborg like Marduk and Mayhem. Skinner say about War From Harlots Mouth. XI like only Theosophy.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

7 months of winter and mankind stupidity as a global phenomenon...

6. Where was your last gig?

In Novosibirsk (Russia) with Ensiferum.

7. Where would you like to act?

We want to play in all parts in the World and we will do everything for this!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

With Ian Fraser Kilmister (Lemmy).

9. Whom not?

Patriarch of Moscow and all Rus' - Kirill.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Each of us is worried before going on stage, but there is no reason to panic. You have to rehearse a lot to be confident in your abilities. And you need to understand that people who came to your gig want to listen to your music, not beat you.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Of course first and second wave of Norwegian Black Metal.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Some guy after gig in Poland came to us. He was a little drunk and he say us something strange: "koshki" (in Russian it does mean - "cats"). For a long time, we could not understand each other... Then it turned out that the guy only wanted a guitar pick.

13. What do you think of your fans?

These are the best people on the Earth! We have a lot of warm words from all continents! Sorry… Not from Antarctica at the moment… Thank you so much for your support!

14. What do you think of our site?

We support in all those people who promote the underground, who live their favorite thing! Don’t stop and delight readers with new bands!

15. Something add?

Please support bands, your local clubs and promoters in this terrible time! All of us exist only with your interest and support!
